It was small, crowded, and (in Maddie's opinion) overpriced. But it was the only place to buy anything decent without having to travel a good few hours from campus. So, the nineteen year old frequented it a little more often than she would have liked. She didn't have much of a choice though, considering she had a few habits that required supporting.
Maddie was on another supply run. A small notepad was held in one hand, a number of small shopping bags slung over the opposite arm. As she dragged a pencil across another word on the list, she let out a sigh of relief. She was almost done. The sooner she finished, the sooner she could get the hell out of there.
She ran her eyes over the remaining items, lips mouthing the words as she went. A bag of feathers and some honey were all she had left. Considering the crafts store was immediately to her left and the grocery store was at the other end of the mall, it looked like she would be getting the feathers first. So she entered the shop, flinching slightly at the sound of the entry bell. Those things never failed to catch her off guard.
Five minutes later she had ducked down an aisle filled with an assortment of feather accented items. It had everything from masks to colorful boas to rather unusual costume jewelry. Her eyes scanned the items with something akin to keen suspicion, looking for exactly what she wanted. When finally she spotted a few bags of what she wanted, a devious grin spread across her lips. Now if only she could figure out if it would be more amusing to use the natural looking bird feathers or the very colorful party ones.

words // 314 // outfit // clicky // tagged // Maddie, Cameron I tried to do you right WHY'D YOU HAVE TO GO AND TURN INTO ICE Earlier in the day Blake had been looking through her jewelry box to find that she was running low on her accessories. Earrings missing clasps and broken necklaces with beads falling off filled the wooden box. But instead of going to some boring jewelry store where she would end up buying some cliche gem studded bracelet, Blake wanted to take a more creative approach. Why not make my own jewelry? It couldn't be that hard right? Just grab some string, beads, and maybe a hot glue gun and I'll be set. Of course she wasn't going to stop and think about her lack of experience in making things, she would probably end up with her fingers glued together anyway, but the idea had stuck in her head and images of pretty accessories had started to blossom.
The door chime went off as she walked into the craft store, causing her to jump a little and look around in annoyance. How rude. Sounding off obnoxious bells when I enter. Maybe I'll write a complaint . . . Her less than sensible thoughts were quickly tossed away though as she spotted some shiny beads that could be used for a necklace. As she rumaged through the beads a bunch of colorful feathers on the opposite side of the corridor caught her eye. Looking at the feathers was one of her fellow students, someone that Blake had seen walking down the school corridors once or twice. Blake wasn't one to hesitate in expressing her friendly (and sometimes clueless attitude) and soon walked over to say hello.
"Wow. You making some sort of fake birdy? Bet that'll look nice and colorful . . . like a parrot!" She tilted her head slightly and curled a strand of her hair with one of her fingers. If Blake's words didn't give off the airhead vibe her ditzy appearance surely would. notes // None |
