"That was really... mature of you. I don't think I'd been able to do it if I was in your position." Emmi gave her sort of a sad smile. She wanted so badly to finish up her childhood but felt that she couldn't do it here under such watchful eyes. It was like she was pushed into a sort of early maturity. Others would tease her for being so young and small, part of the reason she felt that if she acted like a child that would only add to the problem. On top of that, Seth had told her to stick up for herself. And acting mature was sort of like a silent protest to the teasing.
"That might be a good idea. Or maybe your parents can come to visit you?" Emmi shrugged, that was always a possibilty, but she didn't want them to see her so changed. If she were back home she could act the way she truly wanted, like a child. But seeing them would still cheer her up, as long as it was for a short period of time. "Well Emmi, it was a pleasure to meet you, but I should be going now." The older girl was gathering her books and Emmi began to pick up her notebook. The hallways would be more clear by now and she should be able to get through without too much trouble. "Pleasure meeting you too Maeve." Emmi got up out of her chair, pushing it back into place once she was standing.
"If you need something, don't hesitate to look for me, okay?" The fourteen year old nodded, slipping her notebook back into her bag. At least one good thing came out of the day, that being having the chance to meet such a nice girl. They both exited the library, one through a door and one through a wall.
