Room 1…2…3…4… ah here it is, floor A room 5. The tall young woman glanced at the paper in her hand once more to make sure she had the right room. Yup, this is it. As Alex reached the door to her new dorm room she fumbled around with her keys, trying to distinguish between the one for her mailbox and the one for the room. Once she got the door open she took a quick peek inside to see if her roommate was in yet, then proceeded to drag her large suitcase into the room. “Hmmm.. which side should I take?” Alex bit her lower lip as she took a moment to deliberate before shrugging her shoulders, “Eh, they’re pretty much the same, I’ll just take the left side.”
Leaving her suitcase in the middle of the room, Alex plopped onto the bed that was now hers, letting her legs dangle over the side. She lifted the paper with her room assignment to her face, wondering what her roommates name was. Serinity Dawson. Serinity Dawson… Why is that name so familiar? It took her a few minutes to realize it, but she remembered that the Headmistress had a daughter named Serinity. Not many people have that name. For most people, having the Headmistress’s granddaughter as a roommate would seem problematic and cumbersome, but for Alexandria it was a godsend.
Alex was worried that she’d be assigned a roommate who was rude and lacking in consideration for the rules. The Headmistress is a very nice woman, and surely her granddaughter wouldn’t be the type to get into trouble all of the time. Memories of her roommate from her second year resurfaced and Alex couldn’t help but quiver at the thought. Olivia Burton was her name, and she had the power to manipulate fire, but didn’t have very good control over it, or her own temper. She’d often get into brawls with other students over small issues. Long story short, Alex hadn’t lived with her for a whole month until one day Alex didn’t have a dorm room to come back to. Thankfully Olivia was now long gone from the school, the damages she inflicted on school property began to cost the school too much and she was expelled.
Sitting up on the bed, Alex let out a soft sigh before getting up and stretching, “I guess I should go ahead and start unpacking.” Opening up her suitcase, Alex stepped back as the clothes she squeezed in began to spill out. She wasn’t very good at packing light and practically just threw all of her belongings into the suitcase and forced it shut. For the next several minutes Alex emptied out her suitcase, folding her clothes and placing them in the dresser provided by the school and putting miscellaneous items on her desk and on her bookshelf. She hoped her roommate wouldn’t be coming in too soon, her side of the room was a bit of a mess at the moment.

Packed. That was how the halls were. They were utterly, irritatingly packed and crowded to the brim. Students were clambering around the halls moving to find their rooms dragging their luggage or standing right smack dab in the middle talking to one another. Serinity angrily shouldered past a couple of girls who crossly commented on her rude attempt to pass once her back was turned. She heard every word but couldn’t care less. They shouldn’t be standing in the middle of the bloody hallway. Growling, the blonde tugged her stupid suitcase along. She kept trying to tell herself that the change would be for the better. For the past two years Serinity had been living on the second floor of the dorms. She hated every minute of it. The floor, her roommates, the neighbors, everything! They were so furiously annoying with their inconsiderate selves.
This year was going to be different. Serinity had marched right up to her grandmother, demanded she had a room alone on the first floor, and left without another words. To this date the girl thought her words had left an impression on the Headmistress, but she couldn’t be more wrong. True, Lillian had taken Serinity’s request into consideration, but students were willing in left and right. The dorms couldn’t take too many single roomed students. So, Lillian had, without telling her granddaughter, placed another, hopefully suitable girl in Serinity’s room.
“Finally. A-5.” Grinning happily, Serinity jammed the key she had ready into the hole and threw opened the door. Her suitcase went flying through the air as she tossed it onto the bed on the right and slammed the door closed with an epically heavy sigh. Her forehead touched the cool wooden surface of the door. “Dear lord, I’m so glad—“Serinity broke off her words and spun around. A sound had caught her attention alerting her to the fact that she wasn’t the only one in the room. Seeing Alex standing there, Serinity yelped, jumped, and flattened herself against the door. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back trying to catch her breath.
“Son of a… You scared the crap out of me. What are you doing in here? This is my room.” An already irritated Serinity glared at Alex not having any clue who she was or why she was in her room. Her eyes flittered to observe the unpacked suitcase and clothes that were being sorted through. “Ooooh no, noooooo huh. Nope, nope, no, this is not right. I requested a room by myself!” The blonde clenched her jaw and beat the back of her head against the door twice before frowning and throwing off her suitcase letting it drop heavily to the floor. In the next movement, she allowed herself to flop onto the bed face first causing it to give way under her weight with a creak. “Why can’t something go right. Just once,” she grumbled to herself ignoring her roommate for now. Maybe if she ignored her for long enough, she’d just disappear. As if.

Alex’s head snapped up when she heard keys jangling in the door and a big yet somewhat nervous smile spread across her face. As she moved closer to the door, she stopped dead in her tracks when a large suitcase came whizzing by her head and landed on the other bed. Before the other girl entered the room, Alex quickly stepped back towards her bed, just in case any other large and potentially dangerous projectile came flying through the door. The healer stood quietly when the blonde girl entered the room and curiously gazed at her as she turned her back to her to rest her head against the door. Alex quietly cleared her throat, wanting to alert the girl to her presence since it seemed as if she thought she was alone in the room.
The blonde’s reaction wasn’t what Alex was expecting and Alex jumped a bit herself when Rini yelped and backed against the door. Alex laughed nervously and was about to introduce herself, but the the girl began to accuse her of being in the wrong room. Confused, Alex picked up the paper with her room assignment again and checked to make sure it was the right room. Room A-5, this is the right room. What’s this girl’s problem? Her eye brows furrowed as she gave the girl an offended look, “Nice to meet you too,” her voice was laced with sarcasm.
She continued to watch with disdain as the girl went through her little tantrum and couldn’t help but chuckle in disbelief. Alex was generally a patient individual who tried her hardest to see through the faults of others and to just tolerate them for the sake of simplicity. But the “horrible roommate situation” was something she’d had an issue with almost every year at the academy. She too would have preferred to dorm alone, but didn’t bother to make a case of it since getting a single dorm occurred rarely. “I guess I should have expected something like this from the granddaughter of the Headmistress, always expecting to get special consideration for everything. Erring on the optimistic side has always been a flaw of mine, this is no exception.”
In an attempt to calm herself, Alex continued organizing her belongings, fully intending to ignore the other girl in the room until she learned to address Alex with even just the smallest ounce of civility. I should just leave, let it blow over and come back later and hopefully she’ll be in a better room. I could always apply for a room swap, but everyone is just now moving in and they probably won’t be taking applications for room changes anytime soon. Wait?! What am I saying? Why should I be the one to leave? She’s the one with the issues here, not me. If anyone here is leaving its going to be her.

When her new supposed to be non-existent roommate made her sarcastic remark, Serinity grumbled into her bed and gave her a sarcastic thumbs up in reply. Could thumbs up really be sarcastic? Whatever, Rini knew it was supposed to be taken in a sarcastic manner and that was all that was important. She couldn’t believe this. She had specifically stated that she wanted a room to herself! How hard would that have been? I should have just moved back into Grandmama’s house. She’s never there, so I’d have it to all to myself most of the time. I’d have been away from everyone else and wouldn’t have to deal with any stupid roommates. I wonder if it’s too late to move out of here. Meh, who cares. My room’s still there. Or at least it better be!
Serinity finally decided to sit up. Eyeing her suitcase on the ground, she picked it back up and placed it, more gingerly this time, back onto of the bed. Turning her back on Alex by standing up and facing her suitcase, the blonde unzipped it forcefully almost breaking off the poor zipper’s handle. Rini would have been perfectly content to just ignore her roommate from here on out if that’s what it took. She had a backup plan now, too. If things became unbearable, which they probably would, she would just pack up and throw everything in her room at the White House. It had been years since she had lived there, but it was still her room. Actually, it had been her mother’s room first, but now it was her’s. Technically.
The girl heaved a heavy sigh and flipped open her bag examining her hastily packed items. Other things were still stowed away in boxes upstairs in her old room, but she intended to bring those down soonish like. Rini wasn’t in as much of a hurry now that she was being forced to share a room with some stranger. The other girl’s voice sounded again the very noise grating against Serinity’s nerves. The girl clenched her jaw and half-listened to the words. When it became apparent what Alex was really saying, Serinity spun around blazing with a sudden furry. “You don’t know anything about me!” she yelled furiously restraining herself form outright punching the girl standing before her. Her chest heaved with every breath, fists shaking, eyes glossed with an icy cold glare. In the distance, thunder rumbled low and ominously. “None of you do. You all assume.” Serinity put on a very inaccurate impression of Alex’s voice, “You must be used to getting your way, you’re the Headmistress’ granddaughter, blah blah BLAH! Go screw yourself!” Still shaking, Serinity stormed out of the room slamming the door shut.
For thirty minutes, she wrestled her way through the jammed hallways to make it up the stairs and to her room. Inside she found her old roommate still lounging about. She hadn’t moved from the dorm. Serinity had requested to move out at the same time her roommate requested someone else move in. It was a win win for both except for the wrench that had been thrown into her plans. Thirty minutes was just enough time for Rini to calm down, too. It was obvious, even to her, that her actions and words had been extremely uncalled for. While gathering her things, the now calmed Serinity regretted her words… to an extent. They rung true in context. Everyone did think she got special treatment all the time. While it was right in very few instances, in most, Rini was just like everyone else. She took classes, she ate in the Great Hall, and she did all her homework herself without help or favoritism. Why couldn’t everyone else see she was no different than they were?
With several boxes stacked precariously on top of one another, the girl made her way through the throng of people and back to her door… only to find out she had left her keys inside. “Son of a bitch!” she cursed hotly under her breath. A passing young kid gasped at the swear word and stared at Rini with wide eyes. “Scram kid,” she snarled having a certain dislike for the younger students of Silas. The little girl obeyed with a frightened squeal happy to escape with her life. Leaning her head back and giving a groan, Serinity closed her eyes and prepared herself for this huge blow to her ego. She kicked the door gently with the toe of her foot and bit her lip hoping a) her roommate was still inside unpacking and b) her apology would be accepted. “Um, hey. I’m sorry about earlier… I … ugh… just really hate when people say that. I kinda left my key inside… Could you open the door for me? Please?” Serinity scrunched up her face letting the blow sink in properly deflating her ego and diminishing her temper completely.

Alex knew what she had gotten herself into the moment the words left her mouth. She wasn’t a stranger to such an insult –those who knew that she was from a very wealthy household assumed her to be a spoiled snob without a care in the world for anything but material gain. But those who were well acquainted with Alex knew better than to think such things of her. Thus, Alex was expecting the wrath of her new roommate and remorse flooded her conscience as the girl’s words reached her ears. She stopped what she was doing and just stood there, disappointed in herself for her lack of maturity in handling the situation, it was very unlike her to say such things to new people.
Before Alex could muster a word of apology, the door slammed shut, causing Alex to flinch before letting out a drawn out sigh. I should let her cool off and apologize later. The healer hadn’t missed the threatening sound of thunder and was almost sure it was Serinity’s doing. She tried to convince herself that she wasn’t afraid of her new roommate, but failed rather quickly and began to nervously play with the dark strands of her chestnut hair. “Uggggh!!!” Alex growled in frustration as she plopped on her bed and buried her face in the mattress. I swear this is a curse, this roommate from hell thing. What did I do to deserve this?! What am I going to do when she comes back? No way am I sleeping in the same room as her tonight, she’ll probably try to drown me in a torrent of rain or strike me with lightning.
Alex nearly flew from her bed and began to quickly pull some clothes out of her drawers and pack a few things into her backpack. I can sleep in my truck tonight, or maybe for the next week or so. Oh wait, my truck was towed the other day, crap. There’s always the abandoned classroom, but ooohh I hear that place gets really creepy at night, forget that. The cots in the infirmary aren’t so bad, the nurses all love me, they won’t mind letting me camp out for a night or two. I volunteer my services to them all the time, they owe me. Once Alex had finished packing her bag, she slung it over her back and grabbed the pillow off of her bed. After pocketing her key, Alex stepped towards the door, hoping to slip out before her roommate returned with a knife from the kitchen.
A sudden sound at the door had Alex pausing for a moment, dreading what was to come. But the words that followed surprised Alex even more. As the blonde apologized and explained that she had locked herself out, Alex took a deep breath before softly opening the door. “Yea, I hate it too when people assume things about me, which is why I am truly sorry. I know how it feels when people come to wrong conclusions about who I am because of where I come from, and yet I played that card on you. So, I’m sorry.” Alex stood there a moment, still holding her backpack and pillow, not quite sure if it was still necessary for her to hide out in the infirmary or not.

The doorknob turned and Serinity’s heart nearly leaped with joy. So she wasn’t locked out! Wait. What if her roommate was some psycho who was just opening the door to attack her? The blonde stiffened. There had been a couple of truly scary people at Silas before, people whose powers had gotten the best of them and turned them into something to worry about. Rini bit her lip tightly but no attack came, much to her relief. Instead, she was confronted with an apology. Wait, what? Her roommate was apologizing to her? Did she step in a different dimension or what?
Swallowing, the girl hesitantly entered the room listening to the other. “That… was not what I was expecting.” It was the only reply she had to offer to Alex’s apology. The boxes Serinity was holding were dropped onto her bed with a thud the trinkets inside clinking. Turning around she gazed at the dark haired girl with emotionless eyes. Her lips were pressed together in thought. As her eyes swept over the backpack and pillow the blonde allowed her head to fall in shame. “You don’t have to leave. I’m sorry for how I acted earlier. I really am.” A small apologetic smile reached her lips. With a shrug, she continued, “I’m not very good at controlling my temper.” Or my powers… Serinity turned her gaze outside of the window and frowned. Her little outburst might have accidently called in a storm from some distant area. With any luck her grandmother wouldn’t find out and it would roll through without any problems.
Running a hand through her hair, she sniffed shoving the other hand in her pocket. “Serinity Dawson, by the way,” her right hand reached out to give Alex a proper, more polite introduction. “But you probably already knew that. So, what is it that people judge you on? If it’s not too personal.” Ever the curious one, Serinity went about unpacking her things while waiting for Alex’s answer. The hot air had blown over and a friendlier breeze was passing through. Maybe this new girl wouldn’t be such a bad roommate. They had already had one skirmish so far, but neither of them were pulling out hair or throwing punches. That was a step in the right direction. Serinity and her last roommate almost had an outright brawl the first day, but that was because her roommate was on her period and was a stuck-up-know-it-all-bitch who thought everything in the room was her’s. Wrong. Things didn’t get better either. Here’s to hopeful thinking.

A weak smile broke across the girl’s face when the blonde stated that she wasn’t expecting her apology. ”Well, get used to it. I’m one of those people who will practically apologize for everything.” Alex always had a soft heart and guilt would eat away at her conscience like flesh eating bacteria on open flesh. She stood in silence for a few moments, trying to think of something to say so that the situation wouldn’t turn awkward. Thankfully the other girl picked up the conversation in time. Alex chuckled nervously at the girl’s words as she threw her backpack and pillow on her bed. “I’m not going to lie, I was dead afraid of you and was about to go run off and hide somewhere for a few days, heheh.” She made sure not to disclose her hiding place, in case she’d need it in the future.
“Alexandria Duvell,” she responded to Serinity’s introduction and gave her hand a gentle yet meaningful shake. “Believe it or not, but this is probably the best move-in day I’ve had to date. At least in terms of introductions. I’ve been cursed with the worst possible roommate every year. Two years ago, my roommate reduced our room to ashes. You might have heard of that incident. As Serinity began to unpack her things, Alex turned to the backpack on her bed and did the same, placing the clothes and items back where they were before. The young woman paused for second when Serinity asked her about what people had to judge her about. She usually didn’t tell anyone about her family’s ridiculous wealth, but her roommate shared a similar plight.
“Well, no one else here knows about it, but my parents are very affluent people. They are both CEO’s of two very successful corporations and they invested in other big businesses and whatever. So, back at home, where people knew about my family’s wealth, people expected me to be shallow and assumed that I always expected to get everything my way. They expected me to be just like my parents, with the money being the only thing on my mind. I drove a truck that was more than 10 years older than me for goodness sakes! I don’t want to live in the shadow of my parent’s success, I’ll make a name for myself, by myself, and I won’t lose sight of what’s truly important once I get where I want to be.” Alex let out a long sigh, she might have said a little more than she intended, but it felt nice to finally rant about it and get it out there.
Chuckling, Alex shoved her backpack under her bed and pulled out her sheets and other bedding materials from her closet. “I’m sorry, that must have been an earful.” The tall girl pulled the fitted sheet around the mattress, it was her favorite color; bright teal. After pulling the large goose down comforter over the bed and putting cases over her pillows, she plopped down on her bed. After staring at the ceiling for a few moments, she looked over at her roommate. “So your power is controlling weather?” After being at the school for so many years, it wasn’t too difficult to decipher someone’s powers, especially if odd things happened when she was around then. The weather definitely didn’t do a complete one eighty change on its own.

Alex’s words echoed in Serinity’s head after she said them and the conversation had moved on. Damn, Rini. You make quite the first impression. Frowning to herself, Serinity could hardly believe that she had scared her roommate that bad after just a couple of minutes together. At least things were going well for them now! “In all my years, I don’t recall ever physically harming someone, so I think you’re good.” Serinity gave Alex a small, pathetic smile. No one had ever been struck by lightning… yet. “Being rained on, however, is a different story.” Serinity grinned at that forcing herself not to chuckle.
When their hands touched, Serinity was glad to see Alex didn’t have one of those awkward limp handshakes. She loathed when people did that. Looking into her face now that she was up closer, Serinity realized just how lucky she was. Alexandria was exceedingly beautiful. Oooooh, boy. Things are probably going to get awkward. Playing it off all cool like, Serinity had gone back to her unpacking business with a small blush on her cheeks. Thankfully, Alex did too. Serinity’s last couple of roommates weren’t even cute in the least, appearance or personality wise.
The dark haired girl jumped into her tell of how she had a roommate curse. Serinity nodded and made a confirmation sound, “Oh yeah. Been there, done all that. We must have the same curse. I bet since we both have it, it’ll cancel each other out and we’ll have a good year this year!” Optimistic, a rare thing, Serinity tossed Alex a smile. “And yes, I definitely heard about that. Grandmamma didn’t stop raging on about that for a good two weeks. She very rarely expels students; it breaks her heart to do so. But in some cases, I guess it’s necessary if there’s a huge danger to other students.”
With the conversation turning to darker matters, the blonde paused in her unpacking to attentively listen to Alex’s words. “I see. If it’s any consolation, I would have never guessed about your background unless you told me. Also, your truck is really old…” Serinity chuckled lightly and scratched her cheek. “From what I can see, you’ll make a name for yourself no doubt.” Alex apologized for the length of her speech. The blonde shrugged her shoulders crossing her arms over her chest. “It’s no big deal. I like listening to other people’s problems. It makes realize I'm not the only one with problems.”
A scratching noise came from the base of the door that led into the hallway. Seconds after it was followed by a low, pitiful whine. “Ugh, hang on.” Serinity was just about to answer Alex’s question, but this new arrival should be taken care of before destruction happens. Crossing to the door and opening, Serinity frowned at the white object sitting sadly at the threshold. “Well come on. I told you not to be long. I wasn't going to wait for you.” The dog bounded into the room with a happy bark glad he wasn’t forgotten about. Seeing the newcomer, the white German Shepherd stopped to look at her ears erect. He sniffed the air taking in her scent. Finally, he deemed her as alright and bounded over to her pressing up against her legs wagging his tail wanting to be petted.
Serinity shook her head and rolled her eyes, “That’s Hewie, you can just ignore him. Big lug. Hope you don’t mind me having a dog. He’s well behaved at least.” Her blue eyes watched him like a hawk to make sure he didn’t jump up on Alex. Despite his every muscle telling him to do so, Hewie kept his four feet planted firmly on the ground. That didn’t stop him from licking her hand to gain attention. “Back to what I was saying before,” Serinity looked outside the window and observed the darkness outside, “Yes, I do control the weather.” A light pink blush formed on her cheeks.

Alex laughed when Serinity talked about her bad luck with roommates and how maybe their “curse” may cancel out this year. “Heh, I hope so. But then again, this is my last year as a student anyways. The thought hadn’t really occurred to her until now and she stopped what she was doing to ponder it some more. What the hell am I going to do once I finish here? I suppose I could transfer and finish off my degree somewhere else, but it’s just not going to be the same being out there, where I have to hide who I really am. Shaking the thoughts from her mind, she decided not to worry about it then, she had a whole year to go until she had to figure out what to do with her life.
Relief flooded her when she heard that her background wasn’t obvious. “I’m glad to hear that. Another laugh rang in the air when her roommate commented on her truck, “Was really old actually. I wrecked it the other day and had to get it towed. I was literally just 20 feet away from the garage too. Her head shook as she recalled the circumstances surrounding the mishap and slight blush crept up on her pale cheeks. Alex was already getting comfortable around Serinity, finding her really easy to talk with. She was half tempted to share what the accident had been about, but was worried Serinity would think she was a perverted freak. Oh but he was so hot
When Alex heard the scratching at the door, she cocked her head curiously and was confused as Serinity spoke to whatever was on the other side. Realization struck when she heard the clear bark of the ivory canine and a bright and excited smile lit up her features. As the dog approached her and sniffed her, the girl let out a soft chuckle, “He probably smells Old Jack. I kept him company earlier this morning and brought him some leftover meat from the kitchen.” Alex immediately sat on the ground once the dog was comfortable with her and began to pet him, scratching behind his ears. I love dogs! Only big ones though, thankfully you don’t have one of those tiny yappy little things. I’m glad you have one, and such a gorgeous one Hewie is too! I would get one myself, but Old Jack is great canine companion when I need one.”
Alex continued to stroke the white fur of the large dog as Serinity responded to her question. That’s so cool! I love thunderstorms, but because they frighten me and give me a rush. The sudden flash of lights and that deep and loud rumble that you can sometimes even feel in your chest. But only if I’m inside, I’d probably pee myself if I was stuck outside in the middle of a thunderstorm, Alex giggled a bit as she shared that last bit of information.

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=background,http://i56.tinypic.com/20hldp2.png,true]The blonde chuckled at Alex’s story about wreaking the truck 20 feet away from the garage. “That sounds like something’d I’d do. Thankfully, my car’s in the same shape it was when I got it, though I don’t use it often. Maybe one day we should take a road trip for a weekend. To get away from Silas.” They wouldn’t get far, but Serinity would relish the action of getting away for any time at all. Her trips out of Silas were few and extremely far between. They typically only landed her in Willowbrook which could hardly be considered “outside” of Silas.
Alex sat on the floor which heightened Hewie’s excitement. Unable to contain himself, the dog went straight for the girl’s face with happy, exuberant licks. When her hands came near his face Hewie eager sniffed at all the scents she carried. One of them was an old friend of his, Old Jack. The two wandered around the school in search of food quite often. Serinity smiled as the dark haired girl’s words conjured up an image of the scruffy Wolfhound. “Old Jack’s a good dog. I remember when some students first found him. That was a long time ago.” Pressing her lips together, Serinity thought back to how long she had really been here at Silas Academy. Too long in her opinion.
“Ugh, I couldn’t stand all the yapping. Big dogs only, please and thank you.” Serinity sat on the floor as well Hewie instantly gravitating to her for a good scratch. She happily obliged before hugging the dog and kissing his head. Hewie sat in Rini’s lap and leaned his head back to get a good look at her. She blew down his nose making his snort and sneeze. Rini smirked and ruffled the fur on his head. Her smirk turned into a small smile after hearing Alex’s love hate relationship with thunder. “I’ve gotten used to it over all the years. It usually helps me sleep now, actually. I love listening to the rain when I go to sleep.” As the words left her mouth, a light rain started up. Soon the rain had turned into a decently heavy pour.
The look on Serinity’s face was one of pure self-loathing. The day had been crystal clear with only the white fluffy clouds in the sky. Now, it was close to raining cats and dogs. “Damn it,” the girl hissed under her breath. Hewie licked her face and whined. He’d been living with her enough to know when she was upset about her powers. It was funny how a lot of animals could easily recognize a regular human and a gifted one. The halls were soon filled with screeching, chattering girls coming in from the rain with wet clothes and belongings. Hearing their complaints, the blonde stood up to busy herself with something. It was bad enough she accidently called in the rain; now she had to hear everyone else complain about her mistake.
In the distance a bell rung low and clear even over the rain. It was the lunch bell signaling the start of the lunch hours. On cue, Serinity’s stomach grumbled hungrily having been taught the bell meant food. “So, would you like to go to lunch with me? I heard it was pizza today.” Hewie pawed at Serinity’s leg and whined. “No, Hewie, I will not being you a pizza slice back. The last time I did that, you had gas for a week, and I highly doubt Alexandria would appreciate that.” The dog grumbled and padded off into Serinity’s room to take up all the space on her bed. “And don’t you dare piss on my bed!” The blonde narrowed her eyes at the innocently looking dog lying there with his big brown puppy dog eyes. Turning to Alex, she made sure to inform her, “Don’t let him fool you. He’s a little devil when he wants to be. Also, don’t bother with an umbrella. I’ll take care of my little mess.” Grabbing her keys, not eager to repeat earlier experiences, Serinity waited at the door swinging them in her hand.

Serinity’s idea of a road trip immediately brought excitement to Alex’s eyes. She gasped slightly, “That’s a great idea actually! It would be so much fun, I’ve always wanted to go on a roadtrip!” Since coming to Silas, Alex had only left the area once, to visit her brother before he went to serve in Iraq. She intended to spend a few days at home once her brother returned, though she wasn’t quite sure when that would be. Her excitement waned as she realized that she hadn’t heard from her brother Joe in a couple of months. She made a mental note to write him letter later on in the evening and have it sent off the next day.
Alex’s attention was drawn to the large window at the sound of rain steadily falling. She slowly rose to her feet and strolled over to the window, resting her hands on the window sill as she peered outside. The young woman was half tempted to go outside and dance in the rain. But her temptation was eliminated the moment she saw a group of young girls, no older than 15, playing in the rain just outside of the dorms. She stepped back from the window just in time to hear Serinity curse, and she wasn’t exactly sure why. Alex wasn’t entirely sure what had upset the girl, but one thing she learned in the past hour was not to irritate her new roommate when she was already bothered.
A quiet giggle followed the sound of Serinity’s growling stomach. Alex nodded when she was invited to have lunch with her roommate, “Gosh pizza sounds amazing right now.” The girl swiftly left the common room and went into her room to retrieve her bag and room key. She returned in time to hear the part about Hewie’s gas and she nodded in agreement with Serinity, “Yea, no pizza for you big boy, can’t have you stinkin’ up the place.” Alex chuckled when she was warned of Hewie’s devious ways. The last part about Serinity “taking care of” her mess confused Alex slightly, but she shrugged and opened the door, holding it open for Serinity. The two then headed out of the girls’ dormitory as they made their way to the cafeteria.
OOC: Hope you dont mind the bit of power playing at the end. Just figured you didn't want to make a whole post about Serinity actually leaving the room, lol.
