Anya let out a long sigh before responding to Spark, "Your probably right. But maybe I can still try to get her to not hate me." Her eyes suddenly widened as a cat came into view. She hadn't expected to see any pets outside of the dorms as she assumed that most of the students locked their windows and doors. She had to admit that the cat was incredibly cute and she couldn't resist petting its fluffy coat. Even the cat being here lightened Anya's mood and almost made her forget all about her moody roommate. "Well hello Rinzler, you are such a cutey." "I always thought about getting a pet. But now that I've truly met Maddie I have a feeling that she might not appreciate a pet roaming around in our room." She scratched the cat behind the ears, smiling when he began to purr with delight. Anya then glanced down at her watch and realized that her hour for practicing her flying was close to over. "I think maybe I should go. I need to get some rest so I can get up for tomorrow. But you and Rinzler have a good night."

Revan watched Anya turn and jog back towards the dorms, feeling the winged girl's presence long after she had passed out of sight. Then she flopped down to the cool grass and sighed. Closing her eyes, she leaned back and let her head rest against the tree. She knew that she should get up and head back to her own room, but she didn't really want to move. "Stars," she mumbled. "I hate this."
"Mrow?" asked Rinzler. Revan looked down at the cat. The two-year-old silver-grey Maine Coon had been a gift from her parents for her sixteenth birthday, and was her best friend.
---Flashback---
We hope you enjoy your present. Happy birthday, Revan. Love, Mom and Dad, read the card. Revan sighed. "They won't even come out for my birthday," the sixteen-year-old said to herself, staring at the large box on her bed. "Well, let's see what they sent." Revan pulled the top off the box and gasped in surprise. A pair of eyes just like hers looked out from a tiny silver-furred face. Revan reached into the box and pulled out a tiny kitten covered in silky silver and black fur. "Mew," said the kitten. As Revan hugged it to her chest, the feline began to purr very loudly. "Oh, I know just what to call you," she said, her own eyes glittering. "Your name is Rinzler." Rinzler purred loudly again.
---End Flashback---
With a grunt, Revan got to her feet and set off towards the dorms, Rinzler pacing silently beside her. With luck, she'd be able to get at least some good sleep.
