Girl's Night [Rini]

Alex was tearing up at a joke Serinity cracked just moments before, laughing so hard that she could hardly manage to get the key in the door. The healer flicked on the lights to the main room once she got the door opened and threw the bags she was carrying onto the couch. “I’m gonna change real quick!” She strode into her bedroom and disappeared behind her door, immediately peeling off her clothes and throwing them about her room. The sound of drawers opening and shutting could be heard as she changed into a tank top and some comfy shorts for the night. It was a Friday night and the roommates had spent the evening out in downtown Willowbrook. The week was treating her quite poorly and the healer wanted nothing more than to get off campus and relax while out on the town. She completely forgot about her biochem exam on Tuesday and ended up winging it. On Wednesday she found out she got 79% and spent the rest of her day wallowing in despair and the entire night reading up on what she had missed. And earlier today she fell victim to one of Maddie Parker’s pranks and found herself sprawled on the bottom of a staircase between her first and second periods. She hadn’t even made it through fourth period when she sent a text to Serinity, begging her to go out to Willowbrook with her after classes were out. But the trip to town had significantly elevated her mood. After chatting over some coffee at Alex’s favorite café, the roommates did a little shopping before heading to a Blockbusters and renting a few movies. While tying her dark brown locks into a messy bun, Alex strolled back into the shared room with a thin throw blanket slung over her shoulder. “Alright, so what should we watch first?” She called out to Rini, not sure if she was in her room yet or in the bathroom. “There’s ‘House of Headless Horrors,’ ‘While You Were Sleeping,’ and ‘The Dark Knight.’” Generally, the healer wasn’t a huge fan of scary movies, but with Halloween just around the corner, she was suddenly in the mood to be spooked. Plus, with Hewie around, Alex wouldn’t be so afraid of getting up and going to the bathroom at night. “I say we start with the scary one first, that way we’ll forget about it!” Although Alex was the one who insisted on renting the horror film, she knew she’d have a hard time sleeping after watching it. Settling into the couch, Alex grabbed the TV remote and wrapped herself in the blanket she brought from her room. As she waited for Rini, she watched a rerun of an older episode of Spongebob Squarepants.

Serinity wiped away a tear that formed near the base of her eye while laughing sporadically. She hadn’t thought the joke would be that funny, but Alex’s reaction was what made her start up. Smirking with a bit of a chuckle, the blonde waited for Alex to open the door. With all the laughter the task proved difficult. The brunette announced that she would be going to change. Serinity nodded and did the same. As soon as the door to her room was opened, Hewie burst from the area and jumped up to greet her with a furious set of happy licks to the face. “Ugh, Hewie! Down!” The dog obeyed and looked up at her with a butt shaking wag. His brown eyes pleading to be loved on. The girl sank down to the dog’s level and buried her face in his fur snuggling him close and kissing his neck. “Ready to go outside?! Yeah? Yeah? Com’on!” Hewie answered with a loud bark and raced to the nearby door that led into the outside world. Rini couldn’t get there fast enough. Hewie pranced in place whining excitedly. Finally, the girl got to the door and let the monster out. He was gone in a second flat. Rolling her eyes and smiling, Serinity went to actually go change. Her clothes were stripped off and replaced with a t-shirt and shorts. Simple but effective. Today had been amazing. There was no other way to put it. It was just your typical girls night filled with coffee, laughter, and fun. Three things women just couldn’t live without. Chuckling to herself, the blonde walked back into the living space. “Man, Alex. Why didn’t we do that before? Today was so much fun.” It was the truth, too! In fact, Serinity swore the two were a lot closer now after getting to know one another better. They were closer to being friends rather than just stranger roommates. That suited Rini. Alex was a pretty darn cool person. Besides, she was quite fun to look out. That, however, the girl would keep to herself. Serinity’s roommate began to messily throw her hair into a bun. The blonde scratched her cheek and looked away keeping her mind on Daniel. As his image materialized in her mind, the blonde smiled warmly and plucked some lint off her shirt. “I’m so with you on the horror one. We should do that one, Dark Knight, and then While You Were Sleeping! That way we can go to bed happy with romantic dreams buzzing through our head.” Snickering, Rini excused herself to let Hewie back in. The white dog was at the door scratching to be let in. Once inside, he bounded over to Alex and was about to jump up on her, but with a warning from Rini, he settled for sitting patiently at the couch wagging his tail like before. The DVD was then popped into Rini’s PlayStation 3. The console whirled and went to work. Serinity playfully grabbed the remote from Alex’s personal bubble and flipped it to Input 2. “I’ve got the powa! Alright, let’s do this!” Plopping down heavily in her favorite loveseat, the blonde settled herself in, pulled a throw over her legs, and patted the seat for Hewie to join her. He didn’t hesitate in jumping up and circling once only to plop down himself with a groan. Almost instantly, he was falling asleep. “Hey! I need you to protect me you big lug, not sleep!” Pouting, Rini stroked his head and messed with his ears. They were so fuzzy and fun to play with.
