The game room, one of the better populated areas on campus during spare time and weekends. Today was no exception. Of course, Matthias was supposed to be in class at the moment... It was stupid art though. He was only in that class because of Kathryn, and he hadn't even seen Kathryn in weeks. A part of him wondered if she'd left Silas permanently, finding the school to be a bad fit. Another part of him was hoping she was just really sick or something though and would soon be back for him to pester.
Regardless, at the moment he was a free agent, Kathryn or not. And as a free agent, he had decided to make the most of his time not attending class. He had set up camp in the game room which, at the moment, was filled mostly with students like himself who were skipping and those who were lucky enough to not have a class this period. Spread comfortably in a plush recliner, one leg hanging over the arm, his backpack rested open against the chair. He had the appearance of a lazy boy playing his PSP. In reality, however, Matty was doing something he deemed much more interesting.
On the other side of the room sat a circle of gossiping girls who looked to be more towards the high school side of Silas's age range. The sixteen year old boy had positioned himself in such a way that he had a perfect view of these pretty ladies. While, for the most part, he was indeed focused on his first person shooter, he would periodically peek over his handheld to watch the girls. They had yet to notice his ogling, which was perfectly fine by him. All in all it made it quite perfect that he had decided to skip stupid art.

As always, a smile lit up Nic’s features as he entered the game room, his hands occupied with opening up a can of Redbull he snagged from the kitchen earlier that day during his little raid. After bringing his loot to his dorm, taking his fill, and throwing the rest into the mini-fridge, Nic decided it was time to see what the game room had in store for him. After taking a gulp of the energy drink, the boy’s gaze fixed upon a familiar red headed boy. What the heck is he staring at- Nic traced Matty’s line of sight and stopped at the group of girls lounging on the other side of the room. Daaaaaaaaaaang.
Nic strolled over to where his roommate was reclining and pulled up a chair from a nearby chess table. He sat on the chair backwards, folding his arm over the back rest of the chair and resting his head on top. “Very nice view my man,” he muttered as he focused on a pretty blonde girl. Nic had a thing for blondes. “Such a great idea to skip class and come here. Oh I restocked the fridge, by the way. Lots of good stuff.” Nic didn’t mind sharing his spoils with Matty, the other teen was pretty chill in his book and they always got along well. Their priorities also seemed to align well; ogling chicks in the game room over attending class.
Not wanting to be too conspicuous, Nic got up and grabbed a random magazine from a nearby end table and opened it up to a random page as he took his seat again. ‘Make Your Home into a Winter Wonderland ’… what the hell? Confused, the boy quickly flipped to the cover to see what he had actually grabbed. ‘Martha Stewart Living,’ nice. The boy sighed as he opened back up to a random page. “I think the blonde one on the left is the hottest... I call dibs by the way.” He added, just in case the two of them decided to head over and introduce themselves.

"Game over" had been flashing on his screen for several long minutes, much to the teen's failure to notice. One of the girls had stood up to stretch for a moment. Instantly his eyes were glued to her form, very much appreciating the way her shirt rose just enough to show a bit of her stomach. Life was so sweet sometimes.
And then the door opened, Matty jumped slightly (afraid he'd be caught), and he nearly knocked the PSP onto the floor. Thankfully he managed to catch it in time and quickly pushed the A-button, trying to start up a new round as nonchalantly as possible. The last thing he needed was a friend of the girls' showing up to spoil his great view.
But it was only Nic. Thank the heavens it was only Nic. When he caught the red headed boy's eye, Matty grinned. Now here was the mark of a good friend. Instead of chastising him for skipping class or busting on him for staring at girls, Nic pulled up a chair and joined him. If anything, his roommate was a little too enthusiastic about it. Matty quickly checked the girls to make sure they weren't talking too loudly.
"I know right?" he laughed, shifting a bit to get more comfortable as he turned to look at the other boy. He was still grinning, though his head nodded slightly to acknowledge the food raid. "Whatcha get? Next time I should see if Gertie can get us another whole cake."
Nic's brief disappearance to grab a magazine let him turn his attention back to the girls for a moment. Whatever they were gossiping about must have been really juicy considering they now had two teenage boys eying them appreciatively. At his roommate's voiced thoughts Matty couldn't help the strangled laugh that came out of his own mouth. He hadn't wanted to laugh, had tried really hard not to, but the whole casualness of Nic's statement was just too priceless. Matty hoped the strange sound that had just escaped him wouldn't draw them too much attention. "The blond's nice, but I actually like the brunette with the short hair. I think she's on the girl's soccer team." Of course he would pick the one that shared an interest in his favorite sport.
