Even if she didn't have a date (who needed boys when you had a lovely twin brother?), and even though she wasn't dressed as prettily as the rest of the girls (she liked her dress, thank you very much!), and even if she had only really made the acquaintance of a single person up to this point. Besides her teachers, but did they really count at stuff like this?
Cassadee hoped so, because some of her teachers were divine and she was not adverse to being with older people. Though she did prefer younger, what did it matter so long as they had fun?
In any case, Cassadee made quick order of herself, slapping on her filmy dress and tying her hair up before lovingly lacing up the boots her father bought her after much pleading. The last thing she did was tie on her mask, which was a lovely thing crocheted by her, with sequins and glitter. She loved her mask. Soft, matched her dress and was simple. Made her feel like a super hero. And so, naturally, on her way to the Great Hall, she held her arms out, hands balled into fists as she made wooshing noises, zipping through the halls, from time to time pausing to strike a heroic pose.
Needless to say, it took her longer to get to the masquerade than it took most everybody else. But when she arrived, she did so enthusiastically, leaping in, planting her feet and stretching herself out, hands in the air. "TUH-DAH!" she gasped, too out of breath to exclaim it in the dramatic way she had meant to. Oh, well. She was here and certainly a person or two had seen her grand entrance. With that part done and over with, she took off straight to the food. Her brother could wait, if he even was waiting for her. She didn't expect him too. He had his friends here, surely.
But as Cassadee stuffed a food-bit in her mouth, cheeks bulging a thought came to her. Her room mate. That little Emily girl...She was not sure if the little lass would even come without prodding. She seemed the shy type. Cass ran a quick glance over the crowd and didn't find the girl. And so she was off, back toward her room. She figured maybe she got there ahead of Emily and would need to go find her. Or at least drag her away from the Girls' Dorms. Plan B in action!

.
. While Cassadee had made quick work of getting ready for the ball, Emmi had lingered, walking slowly back from one of her classes. She had even taken several detours instead of just phasing through the walls like she normally did. And even after she reached the door to her room she paused and instead turned back to walk through the gardens a bit. Why was she taking so much time and not getting primped and dressed like the other girls? 'Cause she was terrified. To the shy girl, crowds were beyond scary, even if she could phase through them with ease. So she wasn't exactly ecstatic about having to go to the Masquerade Ball. Had her roommate not been so eccentric, and willing to carry her to the dance if Emmi refused, the girl wouldn't have even bothered with getting ready. But at the risk of getting pulled to the dance, Emily finally stepped into her dorm room and proceeded to get ready. Cassi had already left, having gotten ready as speedily as possible before rushing out to the dance. This meant that her roommate would probably start looking for the younger girl soon, giving Emmi a smaller timespan to get ready. Wasting no more time like she did on the way to her dorm, Emmi pulled on her red dress and quickly brushed out her hair. She swiped on some lip gloss and was busy clipping on her necklace when the door swung open. Emily jumped a little at the sudden sound as it was obvious who it was. She finished clipping on the necklace and held up her hands in a defensive sort of move. "Don't drag me out yet! I'm not quite done!" Her voice was hurried so to stop Cassi from taking her out of the room without her mask and shoes. Now under the pressure of her roommate's gaze, Emmi strapped on her shoes as fast as she could before tying on her mask. She only managed to get a quick glance of herself in the mirror before she was yanked out of the room by her roommate. OOC: Sorry for powerplaying Cassi a little. OUTFIT: click here.

But at the warning from her room mate, Cassi froze. In place. Right where she was. One leg up in the air and arms out in a position that clearly stated she had been milliseconds from leaping into the air to land next to Emily.
Lucky for Cassi, she didn't have to stay in this position for long, because Emily picked up the pace. As soon as that mask was on, though, all holds were off and Cass bent forward, reaching out to the other girl and wrapping her arms about Emily's own, pulling them close together and dragging Emily out the door, reaching out with her foot to close the door behind them.
"Oh, goodie! I'm so glad you decided to come! It's a good thing you met me, eh? Our you wouldn't have come at all, I bet!" Cassadee's excitement was palpable in the air around them, causing little tingling sensations to crawl up and down Cassadee's arms. "Oh, wait 'til you see it, Emmi! It's beautiful, the Great Hall!" She continued to tug, guiding her reluctant room mate onward.
Cass cast a quick look over Emily and grinned wide. "Goodness, where have my manners gone!? Emmi, darling! You look magnificent! Absolutely awesome!" she exclaimed as they came to the Great Hall entrance. Cassadee swept one arm wide, as though displaying the Hall to Emily. "Behold! The magnificence!" Of course, it was magnificent, and Cassi had every intention of dragging Emily away for a dance. As soon as she had another bite or two to eat.

.
. Emmi let out a squeak as her roommate pounced and proceeded to drag her out of the room. Cassi started talking excitedly and like a hyper little kid. Sometimes it confused Emily how her roommate acted younger than Emmi did, not to say that it wasn't a relief to look more mature next to Cassi. "Oh, goodie! I'm so glad you decided to come! It's a good thing you met me, eh? Our you wouldn't have come at all, I bet!" Her roommate was perfectly correct with her last comment, but with all the dragging and high energy in the area Emily was barely able to get out a response. "Pretty much . . . wow you're strong!"They awkwardly made their way down the hall, Emmi having to tug back a little at the risk of Cassi sending the two launching forward. Not to mention that the small girl wasn't exactly the most graceful in heels. She should have gone with Cassi's approach and just wore boots. "Oh, wait 'til you see it, Emmi! It's beautiful, the Great Hall!" Emily swallowed hard, "Umm, are there a lot of people there?" Oh god was she terrified, but whether she was more scared of her roommate's hyper attitude or the fact that the Great Hall was most likely packed with peple she wasn't able to determine. "Goodness, where have my manners gone!? Emmi, darling! You look magnificent! Absolutely awesome!" Emily smiled a little, happy for the compliment. "Thanks Cassi . . . I like your boots." She laughed softly as she tried to lighten her own mood. Her laughing stopped though as she noticed that they were right at the entrance to the ball. The small girl's heart picked up its pace as her roommate swung open the door and gestured around with her usual flamboyance. "Behold! The magnificence!" Instead of taking in all of the beautiful decorating, all Emmi could think about were the crowds of people pushed inside the Great Hall. Even worse, at Cassi's loud words quite a few people turned their heads, causing Emily to blush red. She wanted to phase right through the floor, but restrained herself for her roommate's sake. Instead she just let out a groan as Cassi ushered her inside the room and over to the little buffet. OUTFIT: click here.

She was far too super happy to have someone along with her. She didn't particularly mind going to parties and whatnot and dancing about and playing on her own, but the potential for fun double with every extra person involved! As far as her strength and the the comment made about it was concerned, she took it as a compliment, turning a grin to poor Emily with a happy "Thanks!"
Cassi's blissful ignorance continued on so much that Emily's nervousness was drowned out and left unnoticed. "Oh, yes! Lots of people! Most of the school, I bet! Soooo much fun, it'll be so much fun!" Cassadee was obviously very very pleased with the turnout, even though she had had nothig to do with the set-up of the whole thing. And, was that another compliment!? Cassi loved this new room mate of her's! Absolutely loved her! She released her arm and wrapped her arms around the girls shoulders and neck instead. "Jeez! You're so sweet!"
Once they reached the food, Cassi was one big mass of bouncing glee, still wrapped about Emily's shoulders, of course. She found what she was looking for and snatch up a tiny rolled look sandwich thing and held it up to Emily's face. "Here, here! This one's really good! Ya gotta try it!" she said before a thought came to her and she pulled the food away, giving Emily a serious look. "You aren't alergic to anything, are you?"

.
. Cassi continued on with the dragging as she answered Emmi's question. Of course Cassi liked to answer questions with as much enthusiasm as possible. "Oh, yes! Lots of people! Most of the school, I bet! Soooo much fun, it'll be so much fun!" The blood drained out of Emily's face, not like her roommate would notice. Her roommate was terribly fun, but ignorant at the same time. After Emmi gave Cassi a little compliment she felt the pressure on her arm vanish. The young girl thought about taking her chance and running back to the dorm room, but she suddenly found herself engulfed in a giant hug from Cassi. Emily could always just phase through the hug and hurry through a wall in order to escape from the evening. However, the fifteen year old didn't want to come off as rude by rejecting her roommate's hug. Instead she tried not to die of suffocation while waiting for Cassi to release her. "Jeez! You're so sweet!" Emily would have thanked her but found herself being squeezed so tight that it was nearly impossible to talk. The hug was finally concluded, leaving Emmi to find a way to gasp for breath without it looking too obvious. Now inside of the Great Hall, Emmi was pushed towards the buffet table. Cassi began eyeing all the delicious treats that the school had laid out while the young girl's eyes darted around nervously as she took in all extravagently dressed students. A small pang of jealousy sparked in her as her eyes fell on all the tall, thin, and elegant girls that moved about the room. Emily was fifteen, but next to all the other students she could pass off as a twelve year old due to her size and generally young appearance. Shortness just sort of ran in her family, not her fault that she happened to have caught that gene. Emmi was getting a little tired of being called cute and tiny while all the other girls flounced around with guys chasing after them like dogs after a bone. The girl wasn't at all a romantic, but it couldn't have hurt to get a little gooey compliment to boost her self esteem. "Here, here! This one's really good! Ya gotta try it!" The blonde girl jumped a little at her roommate's sudden exclamation. She turned to see one of the snacks held up in front of her face. "You aren't alergic to anything, are you?" Emmi gave her a small smile, taking the food from her hand. "Nah I'm not allergic." She took a bite of the treat. Whoever decorated and set up the dance did a good job with choosing the food. "This is really good." Emily was hoping that Cassi would take her time with the buffet table, knowing that dancing was probably up next on the list. OUTFIT: click here.

Good, she was glad she hadn't stuck anything in her face that the other girl may be allergic to. Cause then Cass would have had to sit up all night, taking the girl's rash, or fever or whatever onto herself and giving it to her brother. And that just didn't sound like a fun time at all! But almost as soon as the chuckle was out, Cassi was pouting, cause Emmi had taken the food bit herself. Ah, well. Some people just weren't that into being fed.
Cassi was almost worried to let Emmi's and go, for fear the quieter girl would use the opportunity to escape. And Cassadee simply couldn't allow such a sad thing to happen. So as she dashed back and forth along the table picking things up and putting them on a plate her hand remained firmly wrapped about one of Emily's. Finally, she had picked what she wanted and grinned at the smaller girl, tugging at her hand lightly. "C'mon!" she muffled, her mouth full of something. "Le's si' down an' ea'. Then we can danth!"
The hyperactive girl pounced at an empty table, placing the plate down and releasing Emily to pull a chair out for her with a little flourish. "M'Lady..." she purred out playfully, having swallowed the food she had been munching on and bowing dramatically so she could grin up at Emily. She hoped the girl would willingly take a seat, because otherwise she would be forced to place her in the chair and then sit upon her.

.
. As soon as Emmi stuck the piece of food in her mouth she noticed that Cassi had started to pout. Had she done something to offend her? The younger girl considered that maybe Cassi had planned on eating the little snack, but that seemed unlikely as the girl had pushed the food up close to her face. Wait! That was it! Cassi had pushed the food up to her face so to feed Emmi with her own hand. This sounded a little like a parent feeding a baby and Emily raised an eyebrow, as if to say, 'do I really look that young?' Emily swallowed down her food, just in time to be pulled around while Cassi stacked her plate with food. Her hand never released Emmi's the entire time so to prevent the younger girl from dashing. Dang, Cassadee's a smart little ball of energy. Her roommate finally picked up her plate before tugging Emily in the direction of a table. "C'mon!" Emmi turned her face so to avoid being hit by bits of food that flew out of Cassi's mouth. "Le's si' down an' ea'. Then we can danth!" A small laugh escaped from the younger girl's mouth as she listened to her roommate try to talk with a mouthful of food. The odd pair reached a table and Cassadee released her hand from Emmi's. The young student was relieved as her arm felt as though it was about to be ripped from it's socket. After the hyper girl's plate was set down with a soft clank, Cassi made an extravagant display of pulling a seat out for Emily. "M'Lady..." She couldn't resist the smile that had spread across her face. Cassi was such a goofball, but at least she was a fun goofball. "Why thank you." She put on a bad English accent and curtsied before sitting down in the offered seat. OUTFIT: click here.

It was nice to have someone play along, even if Cassi had the suspicion that the person was just placating her. That was fine, so long as Emily was having some fun, too!
Cassadee hopped her way to the seat closest to Emily and slid the plate closer to the other girl with one finger, propping her elbows on the table and then her chin on her palms. "Ok, ok! You eat, because I've already tasted most of this anyway, way before you got here!" She paused, glancing down at the plate before quickly reaching out, snatching something off the plate and popping it into her mouth. "Excep' tha'... she made a face while chewing and exaggerated her swallowing. "Ugh. Good thing, too. You wouldn't have wanted that. Ew..." She sighed, looking out to the dance floor, longingly. "That's too bad. It looked so yummy too...So much wasted potential..."
Cassadee looked over all the other girls searchingly. Oh, sure, they were all dressed so elegantly. But were they having fun in their fluffy skirts that couldn't get wrinkled and their high heels so high they were in danger of twisting their toes off with each step, hmm? To be honest, Cassi didn't see anything in the crowd to be jealous of. After all, being comfortable and happy were where it was all at. And Cassadee had no doubt she was probably the most comfortable student in the whole room.
And it would have completely shocked her to know that her room mate thought she had anything to be jealous of. As far as Cassi was concerned, Emmi was the lucky one. The only one of them that actually looked their age, when all the rest were so focused on being grown up as quickly as they could be. All Cassi wanted was to stay a child for as long as possible. It wasn't going to last long enough, as far as she could tell. 18 years was just not long enough for her childhood.

.
. After Cassi let out her overly happy reaction, the two blonde students sat down at the table. Instead of Cassi inhaling the food like a vacuum she nudged the plate towards Emmi. It was at that moment that Emmi realized just how much food the girl had taken. She must have grabbed a sample from every plate. Moments like these were when Emily was glad to have such a high metabolism. "Ok, ok! You eat, because I've already tasted most of this anyway, way before you got here!" Dang, how early did this girl get here anyway? Sure her outfit was simple but it wasn't like she had just rolled out of bed and walked down to the Great Hall. However, she probably did sprint down to the crowded room like there was no tomorrow, something that wasn't out of character for the older girl. Before Emmi could snatch up some food, her roommate beat her to it. Any student that hadn't known Cassi would have guessed that she had never eaten before in her life, but Emmi knew better. "Excep' tha'..." The younger girl giggled at the disgusted expression that eased onto her roommate's face. Maybe the school should have labeled the food better so they could at least have an idea on what they were sticking in their mouths. "Ugh. Good thing, too. You wouldn't have wanted that. Ew..." Emmi followed Cassi's eyes to the dance floor before quickly focusing back on her food, not wanting to feel that little spike of jealousy that had pierced her earlier. "That's too bad. It looked so yummy too...So much wasted potential..." Emmi shrugged, pausing to respond before taking a bite out of one of the little snacks. "Don't judge a book by it's cover I guess . . . er, don't judge food by it's cover? Meh, something like that." As the older blonde kept her eyes set on the bustling dance floor, Emmi made sure to eat fast so to not keep Cassi waiting. She figured she'd be dragged onto the dance floor eventually, so it was better to get it over it then face a whining roommate later. After finishing most of the food, Emily pushed the plate more towards the center of the table as an extra indicator to her lack of hunger. The younger girl looked down at her feet for a moment as she contemplated whether she should just phase through the floor and out of the room. Also in her line of vision were the silver heels that she had stuck on just for the dance, which she was now starting to regret. Emily could barely dance in tennis shoes, let alone heels, but at the risk of Cassi being pouty when they went back to the dorm room Emily decided to just suck it up. "Want to dance now Cassi?" She just had to hope that she hadn't made some huge mistake that would end up with her lying flat on the dance floor. OUTFIT: click here.

"Well, you could judge me by my cover. I'm just me the way I am..." The older girl seemed to pout for all of two seconds before sighing, giving up on that little charade and leaned forward, resting her hands on her chin and her elbows on the table, peeking over at Emily as the smaller girl ate. In her own way, Cassadee was trying to be helpful. She knew the other girl wanted to be taller, like the others around them, so she figured feeding her a lot might help.
So she was mildly disappointed that there were food-bits remaining on the plate. But not so much as to not reach out and snatch a few more pieces off for herself. After all, Emily had left a couple of her favorites.
And then came an offer to dance. Cassadee turned wide eyes to Emily, her room mate, who had seemed all this time as though she'd rather not dance, Cassadee was certain of it. And here the smaller girl was, offering it! Cassadee choked the food she had been chewing down and shot up out of her chair, reaching out for Emily's hands quick as lightning.
"Yes! Please, I would like to dance!" For the first time, Cass seemed to notice her friend's nervousness and she shot a great, reassuring grin her way. "And don't worry, if you fall, I'll catch you!"
