Brief Summary:

Garrett tends to think a great deal of himself. At least some of it is earned, since he is good at what he does, but a lot of it he has adopted through sheer force of will. One habit he accidently picked up that perpetuates this image is that of using terms and phrasing that can tend to sound a little old-fashioned. However, he enjoys a good joke – whether he’s telling it or hearing it – and doesn’t much care whether anyone else actually appreciates it. The only time he does care is when he is being public one-upped by someone else. He doesn’t like people thinking they’re better than he is, because – of course – he’s the greatest there ever was.

Despite the fact that he can come across as a little self-absorbed, he is actually a pretty good guy. He’ll at least pretend to listen if you go to him for help, and – if he likes you – he might even actually try to help. On the same note, since he likes pranks, there is really no one who is safe from being targeted. The only thing you can do, is hope that he likes you well enough to put it right after he messes it up.

Partly because he’s a shape-shifter, he tends to like animals a lot. Not that he goes squeally-girl over them, but he usually prefers animal company to humans. (Their main advantage is the lower level of noise.)

Power Description »

Andi can take on the appearance of any animal he has seen before - that is, he has to be able to visualize the animal with some accuracy to change. The only real quirk that came with his power is that, after changing back to his human form, he often keeps the quirks of the animal he was. (He will still tilt his head like a bird, or frequently sniff at the air like a dog...)

History »

When asked, Garrett will insist there’s just not much to tell about his past. For the most part, this is true.

Garrett never knew his parents. He was adopted as a baby from an orphanage that couldn’t have told him the information, even if he had ever gotten the inclination to go looking. As it was, his adoptive parents raised him well enough in their small, English town, that he was content.

Well…mostly. By the time he turned twelve, he knew he wasn’t going to stay in his little town. He had a few friends, but none of them were very close, and he wasn’t too bothered by the thought of leaving. Part of him had the cheesy idea that he’d find the people he was supposed to be with when he moved out. He’d made all his plans and they needed only minor tweaking when he discovered he was a mutant. He had taken a hike in the woods with a couple friends and had gotten separated. To this day’s he’s not entirely sure what happened, only that one moment he was panicking his way between two bushes, and the next he was running on all fours. His parents took it fairly well, all things considering, and he was enrolled in a school for people like him in England.

As soon as he turned eighteen and graduated from the gifted school, he packed up and moved out. At first he spent his time travelling around Europe, both in human and animal form. (Saved a bundle on hotel rooms, he says with a smile.) After a while, however, he started to feel restricted again, and he headed across the ocean to America.

In America he continued in much the same way, travelling as both a human and an animal. It was during his travels that he adopted the nickname Andi, and that he stumbled across Silas - actually trespassing for a day and a half before he realized there was a building. Once he had, and had spied around long enough to discover the purpose of said building, he took it upon himself to grace the inhabitants with his presence.

For the last year Andi has come and gone from the school, visiting when his travels and fancy brought him close enough. He’s running out of places to visit, and has decided to take up teaching until his wanderlust kicks up again.
