The last seventeen years have not been very kind to Mallory Barns. In fact, they have done well to greatly disturb the unfortunate telekinetic. Born into a highly devout Catholic family, she is still struggling to see her natural talents as a gift from God rather than as the Devil's curse and something to be exorcised from her body. Five years locked in a basement haven't exactly done wonders for her mental health either, and she spends more time talking to inanimate objects than she does actual people. She's a sweet girl though, deep down inside, and would not harm so much as a fly.
Mallory and the idea of some sort of romantic relationship is quite laughable. For one thing, she's a bit of a late bloomer. She has yet to realize the allure of another person's touch. If anything, she shies away from such things. Years of isolation have kept her a small child at heart, and a lack of being shown love has left her understanding of the emotion bleak. That's not to say she can't learn; she just has a lot of barriers surrounding her heart and her mind.
Unlike lovers, enemies are something Mallory can make without even trying. She's the sort of person whose reputation proceeds her, even if it is a reputation undeserved. She's got too many strange quirks and habits to make others want to approach her willing, so it's not uncommon for the whispers of "freak" to follow in her wake. Most who dislike have never tried to get to her know, and they would surely be pleasantly surprised if they ever did. Regardless, she is a good target for hurtful jokes and cruel bullying, especially since she is not one to fight back.
Mallory has many friends. Unfortunately, they are of the inanimate variety. As a telekinetic, she has the ability to move objects around her. Unfortunately, she has long since confused the objects she manipulates with living things and has convinced herself that they are her friends, her very beloved pets. Real, human friends are something she finds to be very scarce. She is perfectly content to talk solely to creations of her own mind, so rarely does she truly feel alone. Some true company would be nice though, so long as the person doesn't see her simply as a charity case.
