I don't want to fight [Ryder]

Ryder is a telepathic loud mouth who doesn't mind her own business. While she's normally very relaxed and unwilling to get into fights, that doesn't mean she won't stand up for herself and her friends. She's a complete tomboy with a strong aversion to discussing her feelings, causing her to often be considered 'one of the guys'.


Ryder is extremely outgoing and she always has a joke on hand to break the ice. She's incredibly sarcastic, but always tries to be friendly to everyone she meets, until they give her a reason to dislike them. Even if the person is rather cold towards her, she'll still talk their ear off and probably consider them a friend, regardless of how they respond to her. So if you have a char who needs someone to open them up, Ryder is definitely up for the challenge. Since she's a tomboy and most of her hobbies are typically considered as hobbies for a guy, she'll need a lot of guy friends. However, I'd like her to have some friends that are girls as well. I think it would be hilarious if she had a more girly friend who made her dress up, go shopping, and maybe even set her up on dates.


She's been home schooled since ninth grade and her parents sheltered her from the dating world. Now she's a college freshman who's never been on a date in her life. I'm sensing a lot of awkwardness that she probably won't even realize is happening. Because of her 'inexperience', she's a bit naive in the way of relationships. She has plenty of guy friends, but something more… She doesn't get it at all. Ryder's very outgoing so making friends is no problem, but if a guy likes her, he'll have to make the first move. If she likes him, well, she'll just deny it and try to move on. So persistence is key.


Ryder is often mistaken for rude because she believes in being honest. While she isn't a fan of discussing feelings, she's quick to tell someone what she thinks. Being incredibly opinionated is often her downfall. Add onto that the fact that she's a telepath who doesn't respect privacy, and you've got a winning combination to create a collection of enemies. She's also probably going to hang out with a lot of guys, so many one of them has a girlfriend and she gets jealous because she doesn't believe Ryder is 'just' a friend? Or she might read someone's thoughts and learn about their past without permission and she brings it up in conversation. Instant enemy, I should think. Open for ideas!

Alex could totally be that girly friend who forces her to dress up and go out on dates!!! Alex get's along with pretty much anyone and makes friends easily. And she can take a joke and would enjoy Ryder's sarcasm.

Jackie & Ryder

Enemies? Haha, Jackie can't stand girls, even the tomboy ones. And especially the ones who talk too much. I really want Jackie to get in fight, so as soon as I get the chance I'll start that one thread we talked about earlier, where Ryder finds out about Jackie's past and brings it up.

I can see these guys being friends, at the very least. We had already discussed Ryder being the one to "uncover" Cayden's projection telepathy and them him not believing it, which I think is a great idea. He'd think it was a part of her own power and he'd have to test it on someone else before he'd take her word for it. Beyond that, he appreciates bluntness in a person and I think he'd have fun just hanging out with Ryder. He also buries a lot of things that he doesn't want to deal with, and I can see Ryder bringing up something painful out of the blue which could add some drama in there. Cayden would be reluctant to talk at first, but wouldn't mind opening up after awhile, though it would probably throw him into one of his depressed moods. All in all, sign me up for one of Ryder's male friends.

Always hard to find girls Shiloh can stand. So freakin difficult. BUT! Maybe he'll get along with Ryder. He's always sort of based around first impressions and what happens in the heat of the moment so their relationship is not yet defined, but seeing as how she's sort of tomboyish and likes to hang with the guys, I can see Shiloh and her getting along somewhat. He also won't get turned off by her rudeness unless it's directed at him, if she's straight forward with someone else than he'll probably just egg her on. So, friends perhaps? I've also wanted to give Shiloh a chance at trying romance, but most of his romances would probably start with friends first as he likes getting a feel at someone's personality before attempting anything bigger than that. But I won't push that too far yet, just try the friends thing first.

Yes! You have no idea how happy I am that Ryder will have a more girly friend xD It can create such amazingly awkward moments for Ryder. Discussing feelings and heaven forbid talking about boys, as more than friends that is, haha. Sounds fun! Ryder will probably roll her eyes a lot a make a bunch of sarcastic comments about how Alex is killing her, but I can see her really liking having out with Alex

Jackie & Ryder
The drama. I can see it now! We're already going to have the thread with Ryder bringing up something personal that she shouldn't know about Jackie, and if that wasn't a great start to their "enemyship" (and yes, I did just make up a word, I'm cool like that.), I don't know what is. Then to add onto it, Ryder will be friends with Cayden and Shiloh, and Jackie will have a fling with Cayden and be friends with Shiloh. The tension, I can feel it! Definitely looking forward to this!

Still love the idea for her helping him discover the other side to his power. Gonna be great ;] And I can definitely see them as really good friends, someone who Ryder can goof off with and tease mercilessly, cause that's how she is with her friends ;P To throw in some drama, Cayden will be having a fling with Jackie at some point. But I saw you discussing with Vel that maybe Jackie and him don't like each other to begin with, and Ryder really doesn't like her, so maybe they could agree with each other, so it totally throws Ryder for a loop when she finds out they're having a fling. Yay for fights

Shiloh & Ryder
Depends on the first impression with Shiloh, but in all honesty, it doesn't with Ryder. Even if the first impression goes badly and he doesn't like her, she won't be phased by it, unless he's absolutely rude or downright mean for no reason. I hope it goes well though, because I can see these two having a great time, joking around and causing trouble. Shiloh is definitely a guy she would hang out with, and while she doesn't look for a fight, she's definitely willing to cheer him on in one. As for the romantic side of things, it would take a while for Ryder. She's never dated, never been kissed, never anything in that area really. While she does get crushes, she tends to ignore them, so he'd really have to be trying, since she avoids discussing feelings. Too awkward for her. Still, I like the idea ;P It'll just be tough for Ryder. xD

Hahaha! Yeah, if Jackie and Ryder don't like each other, I think it'll be funny to see Ryder and Cayden talking about it. Already in my head he's like, "she's good in bed... but she's kind of a bitch." It cracks me up. But especially after the fling is over, Cayden would be more talkative about just how much of a bitch she is.

On another note, yeah, I think they'll make good friends. Cayden's pretty easy to pick on sometimes, and he'd like just hanging out and talking to her. Nor does he mind being teased. One other idea I had was that after being her friend for awhile, he might develop feelings for her. I don't know that he will, but it's a possibility which could make things awkward between them... on his end at least since she's so inexperienced. Just picturing him trying to confess is hysterical, cause he's not good with words under pressure. Then again, he'd probably just have to think it. xP He hates me for torturing him like this. But definitely friends even if there's never a romance.

I'm not really sure how these two would get along. Meg would enjoy her loudness though, and if Ryder ever takes an art class I could see her encouraging the girl to speak up in class just for a good laugh. Meg's entire family has psychic-based abilities as well, so I could see her easily being comfortable with Ryder's telepathy. She might even find it interesting to see how Ryder interprets one of her premonitions as it's happening rather than as a finished art product, though the chance of them being in the same room at such a time is kind of slim given Meg's pretty much zero ability to control her visions.

Matty & Ryder
So with these two I am picking up on friend and one-sided crush vibes. Because Matty wants to be friends with everyone and he has a bit of a thing for older women. So I can see them getting along and being fun and loud together. And then there's the fact that she's hot and Matty likes her to begin with so he'd totally crush on her until someone else caught his eye. Now, he is sixteen so he goes through crush phases pretty easily. And the best part of their friendship? Matty would freakin' adore her power! Since he's fluent in sign language he enjoys having silent conversations. He'd also think it was way cool to have someone else in his head and willingly think things in an attempt to have a conversation. He can also think in ASL as opposed to standard English, so that might be a way to keep her out of his thoughts too.

The image you just put in my head with Cayden trying to say that he likes Ryder is seriously making me laugh. I love it! I think it'd be interesting to see if their friendship becomes something more, but if Cayden isn't careful with what he's thinking around Ryder, she'll figure it out before he wants her to. But knowing Ryder, with her ridiculous aversion to discussing feelings, she probably won't bring it up. The whole drama with Shiloh possibly ending up liking Ryder as well makes me think there could be some trouble in their future if both Cayden and Shiloh have a crush on Ryder. If that doesn't work out though, they'll definitely be friends. Cayden is exactly the type of guy that Ryder hangs out with.

Meg & Ryder
Sounds interesting, definitely. Ryder hasn't interacted with many professors, mainly because she finds it irritating how they always stick so close to the rules and won't loosen up. So I can see considering Meg her favorite teacher in Silas, since she's more laid back and willing to have some fun, or rather, let Ryder have some fun. I like that idea xD However, Ryder might be a bit bothered if she ever found out about the fling with Cayden, though that's assuming anyone ever finds out about it.

Matty & Ryder
Such wonderful friends, I can see it now! Matty's the kid brother that Ryder never had but always kind of wanted. They'd be pals and unfortunately for poor Matty, that's probably all they'd ever be. I love that he'd be totally chill with her telepathic intrusive tendencies, and it's funny to think how frustrated Ryder will be when she realizes that she can't always understand what he's thinking. So great! They could get into such trouble together and have so much fun doing it. These two are currently in a thread with Danny I believe, in the forest, so we'll see how their friendship takes off. Love them as friends though, I can't wait xD

Anyway, I had this weird image in my head of Cayden and Ryder hanging out, and out of the blue, him thinking that no, he most definitely shouldn't kiss her. Then there'd be this long, awkward silence before he was like, "You heard that, didn't you?" Then he'd be all tripping over his own tongue trying to talk himself out of the situation, which is funny as hell to me.

Anyway, we need to come up with something for these two to do to get in some trouble or have some fun. And for Ryder to discover Cayden's projection telepathy, cause Cayden in denial is always amusing.

Matty is fine with being her friend. I'm sure soon enough he'll find someone else to crush on too. ;p He also doesn't have any sisters (does have 4 brothers though), so it'll be an interesting dynamic to explore. Woot for current thread!
