The spring semester had just begun, the first week winding down and the weekend fast approaching. Matthias could not wait for his first weekend at Silas. After spending the weekend holidays with his family in Boston, it felt amazing to be back among other kids like himself. Normal people were all fine and dandy; gifted kids with powers were a lot more fun. And, of course, Matty had decided to start the first week of school right. He didn't have classes until the afternoon which meant he was free and bored to do whatever he pleased. Naturally that meant abusing his power now that he could use it freely again. It also meant breaking a rather annoying school rule. Students under seventeen years of age were supposed to have a chaperone when they visited Willowbrook. Matty rarely ever did.
Standing on the floor in the middle of his dorm room he tried to focus on where exactly he wanted to go. It had to be someplace in town he wouldn't be seen; the last thing he needed to do was draw too much attention to himself. He had the urge for a nice cup of coffee though and Sweetwater was calling his name. He just had t figure out how to get there... Oh right! The building had a small alleyway with a dumpster between it and one of the other shops! That would be the prefect place to teleport too. He would just pop in and then nonchalantly stroll onto the main street and into the cafe like he had been there the entire time! Now if only his control was that good.
In the blink of an eye the red headed boy disappeared from where he'd just been standing. Moments later he rematerialized in the alley he had been picturing. The distance between the school and the town was sizable, the limit of his range. He'd made it though, and the jump had been almost seamless. The key word was almost. Matty hadn't accounted for any obstacles within his chosen location. Even though he'd been standing still (a non-moving position usually meant smoother landings) he ended up stumbling. The boy had landed on an old cardboard box. It threw off his balance and he tripped backwards, back slamming against the dumpster. This caused the dumpster's lid to bang shut with a loud clang and for a minute he just sat there, breathing hard and paying no one noticed and came to look.
Thankfully no one seemed to really care. Maybe they just assumed he was a stray cat or something getting into some mischief. Either way, he was thankful. A sigh left his mouth and he got to his feet, brushing his clothes free of any debris. His back hurt a bit from where he'd crashed but other than that he was alright. Running a hand through his hair to flatten it out, he tentatively peeked out of the alley. There weren't many people on the street if any. The coast was clear! Which meant he could easily walk out without attracting too many stares. Grinning at his victory he strolled onto the main street, trying to look like he belonged. Then he pushed open the cafe door with a feeling of triumph and got in line, staring up at the menu boards to try and decide what to order. Bad landing aside, today was off to a pretty good start.

The next spring term was coming and she couldn't be happier to enlighten and enrich, the minds at the school. It was nice to be home for the winter break, as she had missed her family. Even her brothers and the animals. Deciding this year she was going to venture outside the school. Hearing from the students that the Sweetwater Cafe was good coffee and tea. Tea was her choice of drink as she walked in her hair loose. Wearing spring clothes as she favor a white t-shirt with blue jeans with white sneakers. Finding it was a casual day. Looking around as she just closed her eyes and take in the scent of coffee and tea in the air.
The noise didn't bother as she was used to it, going to the counter to order her Vanilla Chai. Noticing that there was a student and there wasn't anyone with him. So she walked up to him with a smile on her face "Hello, I don't think we met so I'm Kathleen. Just call me Kate. I'm the photography teacher, are you here by yourself" She said as she was always quick to introduce herself to the students

Strike that. He'd changed his mind. Today was off to a terrible start. His bad landing was clearly going to spell doom for the rest of the day. The poor boy would have no luck. If he couldn't pull this off, things were about to get worse. Sixteen year olds weren't supposed to be in Willowbrook unaccompanied. He wasn't supposed to be here by himself. The question was, how many of the teachers actually knew his precise age? Would he be able to lie his way out of it? Or would it be better to run?
Matty had seen the professor before she'd seen him. She was ahead of him in line and as she turned from the counter with her drink he couldn't help but feel a wave of panic wash over him. His stomach jumped into his throat; the last thing he wanted was to get caught so early in the semester. 'C'mon, Matty, play it cool. You can do this. You've never had her class before.' He continued to stare up at the menuboard, pretending to read the options while secretly keeping an eye on the Silas teacher. When she turned and started coming straight at him, his body tensed even more. This was not good. He was going to get in trouble and end up in detention all just because he'd wanted one last taste of freedom. A part of him said get out of line, run for it, and teleport back to campus first chance he got. She was much too close for that though, and he offered her a nervous grin as she introduced herself.
"Hi, professor," he chirped, trying to sound less nervous than he actually was. Maybe the more upbeat he acted (an easy feat considering he was usually a happy kid) the less supicious he would come across. At her question he nodded his head mutely. Then in a rush he tried to explain. "I'm seventeen now! I... I mean I'm Matty. And I'm seventeen now. My birthday was last term." It wasn't a total lie. Technically his birthday had been last semester, back in the middle of October. He'd only just turned sixteen though, not seventeen. Hopefully his lack of familiarity with Kate would keep him out of trouble.

Kate smiled as she looked at him, hearing him say that he was seventeen and old enough to be alone. After having grown up with two brothers. She knew all the tricks since they used it themselves, she would go as far as he had a fake id. If she would request it so she wouldn't give him a hard time about as it was harmless fun. Though if anyone other teachers would give him a hard time, she would vouch for him. Giving him a friendly smile "Well happy belated birthday, If you don't mind, How about we find a seat and talk I'm interested to know what you can do and how you got here and in return I will tell you the same"
Moving towards a seat as she offered one to the student as she was happy to talk to a student and wished she was this open while talking to her fellow teachers as she was always shy around them. "Hey don't worry about getting caught I will vouch for you, if anyone else ask. Your secret is safe with me" Telling him that she knew that he told a lie and she really didn't really think it was that bad as something as a harmless fun in her view. Having a relaxed approach to when it came to students as she wasn't harsh with the in-enforcing the rules. Boys will be boys kind of attitude.
