Powers
How They Work
How They Work
Daniel's abilities with fire are primarily heat based, but it is nearly impossible for him to work with heat without creating a flame. To create a flame (in the palm of his hand, for example) he would focus on making his hand get hotter until the air above his hand combusted. It's all about burning the oxygen in the air, so (not only would he be unconscious) but his powers wouldn't work in an oxygen-free environment. Once a flame is created, he can then manipulate it by picturing in his mind what he wanted the flame to do. Daniel can also light objects on fire even if he isn't touching them, but it's much easier for him to at least light his hands first as a focus point. Now, putting out the flames is much harder for him, but it can be done by drawing the heat from the fire and into himself. He hasn't tested this out on a large fire for fear that his entire body would burst into flame.
How He Feels About Them
I was going to say "hate," but that's not quite right. He has a healthy respect for what he does. Oh, "intimidated" is a good word, and it's very true. He's always afraid that he's going to hurt someone without meaning to. The fact that he's woefully out of practice only increases this fear. However, he knows that the only way to make himself safe is to learn. When it comes to the fire itself, Daniel will tell you that it has a mind of its own. Fire fuels itself and generally does whatever it pleases. This is another reason for his... wariness. It's unpredictable, and anything could happen.
