i'll keep you my--- Ah summer, a time for rest and relaxation. There was nothing better than days of endless sunshine, skin crisping to a tan, and spending all day without a care in the world. For most people it was a break from the tediousness of school. No more classes, no more teachers, no more stupid homework. Sure there was the occasional summer class someone bothered to take, but they were never as hard as the ones offered during the school year and as long as you passed the grade didn't really matter. Summer at Silas wasn't much different. Sure there was a stray class going on here or there but for the most part school was out. The only ones lingering on campus were professors who didn't bother to move out of their housing (provided they had a position again next year) and a handful of students that didn't want to go home. It was a boarding school, after all, a home away from home. That is exactly why Tiffany now stood in front of the intimidating front doors, staring up at the building in awe. School wouldn't start for another month at least and yet she had already made arrangements to move in. In all honesty, the soon to be junior could not wait. Her acceptance letter had sent her packing the moment it had arrived in the mail. It was her ticket out of there, away from her mother and that stupid little small town and everything bad in her life. It was one step closer to independence. It was time to start living her own life. Unfortunately, moving in before orientation was a little disorientating. Heaving open the large front door, she kicked her suitcase inside and dropped her backpack on the ground. The roller bag containing mostly shoes became her new stool as she took a seat to catch her breath. Talk about a workout. Maybe she should have traveled lighter (granted she had left a good 2/3rds of her closet behind to begin with under the pretense that she could shop here if she needed). Ah well, too late now. The important thing was that she was here, finally, and that she wouldn't have to spend another second at home. Thus, she called out rather loudly, voice bouncing around the great hall and unconcerned about the echo. "Anyone around? New student here! I could use some help!" ---dirty lil secret |
