The Cure »
Cancer has been causing grief for doctors and families for years; but in 2008, Dr. Samuel Ralin discovered a more resilient form of cancer. This cancer could not be corrected with chemotherapy or other typical cancer treatments. Nothing proved helpful and hope quickly disappeared. In the years since, Ralin’s Cancer has tormented families and killed countless people. When Silas Academy Professor Dean Miller’s wife developed Rilan’s Cancer, Professor Miller threw himself into his research to find a cure. Miller not only taught at Silas Academy, but also founded, funded, and worked at LifeCore, an independent research facility established in 2000 and dedicated to finding a cure for cancer.
Wholeheartedly believing that the cure lies within the cells of mutated or gifted beings, Miller gathered a team of scientists to study mutated humans and locate the difference. The professor used his own genetic string to conduct the research. It took a little over a year for the team to come up with a solution that could possibly cure Ralin’s Cancer. Miller’s wife, Jenna, was to be the first test subject. Dean was confident in his abilities and research. He waited no longer to inject his wife and cure her of the deadly disease.
Jenna and Dean waited anxiously for the cure to work. Over the course of a week, no observable changes were found. Miller’s vaccine had not worked and his wife’s life still hung in the balance. Frustrated and growing more desperate with every moment, Dean devised a plan to recruit several young teenagers who could easily infiltrate Silas Academy, observe their classmates, and report back to him with the information he needed.
Before putting his plan into action, Dean came across a young lad by the name of Daniel Ashford. Daniel had absolutely nothing going for him with no family, friends, or proper lifestyle. Miller took Daniel off the streets, cleaned him up, and put him to work as his lead observer at Silas Academy. Under Miller's blinded eyes his students carefully watch Silas Academy for potential candidates to use.
Things become complicated for everyone when Daniel and Serinity Dawson, the Headmistress' granddaughter, begin to fall for one another. Daniel is plauged with a hard decision: continue working for the gracious Dean Miller to whom he is indebted or allow himself to fall into Serinity's unconditional love.
Miller plans to take his candidates back to LifeCore’s hidden facility to begin the testing again as soon as they are found. He knows that the cure can be found in the genetic makeup of the mutants. It’s only a matter of finding the right person with the right power. With Jenna on borrowed time, Miller has decided it doesn't matter if his chosen students are harmed. His wife must be saved, no matter the cost.
