Brief Summary:
Although Alexandria was practically raised by her two older brothers, Joe and Billy, she is every bit of the young lady she would be even if she had a prominent female figure in her life. She is very compassionate about people and human life and she believes that everyone’s life is a gift. She loves meeting new people, hearing their stories and trials, and offering her support and unwavering friendship. Her greatest delight is helping other people, and animals, through her healing abilities. She thrives off of the feeling she gets after saving a life and is thankful that she was blessed with the powers she has. When meeting new people, Alex maintains a pleasant character on the outside, but keeps her guard up on the inside. Throughout her childhood, her kindness and patience would often be exploited by other children and she had learn that not everyone can be trusted right off the bat. When faced with adversity from other people, Alex generally just “turns the other cheek” and is hardly phased by the words of others. But when her close friends or innocent people are verbally, or physically, assaulted, Alex won’t hesitate to intervene.
History »Alexandria’s two older brothers, Joe and Billy, are inarguably the two most important people in her life. Her parents were more than capable of providing for her and her brothers financially, but in terms of family and emotional support, they provided for each other. Money was the primary concern of her wealthy parents and they were often out of the country on extended business trips. Somehow, kinship always came first for the three siblings. Before Alex was born, her brothers were brought up by their nanny, an elderly woman they called “Nanna.” She raised the boys to be gentlemen and taught them that family comes before all else, a doctrine that even their parents didn’t even live by. Because of Nanna’s influence, Joe and Billy were able to provide for Alexandria in a way that her parents were unable and unwilling to.
Overall her childhood was a happy one. She had two very close friends that she treasured dearly, Anna and Kayla. They would often go on “adventures” in the dense forests on her parent’s estate; climbing in trees, jumping across small creeks, and chasing small animals. Of course, the three would often sustain cuts and bruises from their escapades, but Alex noticed that she healed much faster than either of her two friends. Once, when trying to swing from one branch of a tree to another, Alex missed the second branch and fell, breaking her arm when she impacted the ground several feet below her. Tears streaked her face as Alex and her friends traced their path back out of the forest and to back to her family’s mansion. As she cradled her injured arm, Alex noticed a faint, blue light under her translucent skin and she could feel and see the light pulsate. From that point on Alex knew she was different.
Within the half hour it took for them to get out of the forest, the pain had almost completely subsided and the swelling had reduced nearly 75 percent. After tracking down Billy in the large mansion, begging him to drive her to the hospital for a broken arm (he thought it looked like a minor sprain), and sitting for an hour and a half in the waiting room, her arm had almost completely healed. When the x-ray results came in, the doctor informed her and her brother that her arm didn’t appear to have any damage at all. When they got home, Billy scolded her for wasting his time and asked if it was because she wanted more attention. Angered that her brother didn’t believe that she broke her arm and that it healed within a span of 2 hours, Alex grabbed a knife from the kitchen, sliced open her palm in front of her astonished brother, and made him watch as the once profuse bleeding began to wane. Right before his eyes he watched as a pale blue light surrounded the site of the wound. Within minutes the wound was closed and a pink scar was his only reminder of what happened before his eyes. An hour later, even the scar was gone.
For Alex, adolescence was a nightmare. She was going through changes that she was too shy to share with her brothers and she lacked a strong, female figure in her life. Alex even had to go out and buy her first bra on her own, while other girls her age had their mothers to help them. Figuring out tampons was a nightmare of its own. Having to face these changes on her own taught her how to be independent and to care for herself when there was no one around to help her. But as a result, Alex began to loathe her parents who she hardly knew for their irresponsibility. She vowed that if she were to ever have children, she would be there for them and love them, not just for the momentous stages, but every day of their childhood.
Although normal humans wouldn’t have much to complain about when it came to her gift, her brother’s made sure she kept it a secret from everyone else, even their parents. From their perspective, her gift was just another acquisition that would be exploited by others. When Alex turned 17, her brothers sat her down and told her that they wanted her to be around people who would embrace her powers and told her about the Silas Academy, a school for the gifted. She was reluctant to leave her brothers at first, but she realized it was time for them to begin their own families and to live their own lives. Alex agreed to go to the academy as long as they promised that she could see them at least once a year.
From the moment she entered the academy, Alex already knew what she wanted from it. She would practice her healing abilities while acquiring a deep understanding for the basic sciences so that she could one day attend medical school when she returned to normal society. She spent a great amount of time in the library, surrounded by science books, during the remainder of her high school years. When she began her college education, Alex spent more and more time in the laboratory, conducting experiments from the academy’s biology and chemistry curricula, then going on to perform experiments for the sake of knowledge and practice. Due to her intensive study habits, Alex didn’t form any close bonds to her peers during her first few years. But she began to miss the feeling of companionship and decided that it was time for her to budget less of her time in the lab and more of her time with other students.
