Revan wandered into the clothing store in the Willowbrook mall, holding back a sigh. The young empath did not particularly care for clothes shopping, but an incident with another student - Dominic Nelson - had reduced most of her wardrobe to a pile of ashes. Putting her clothes away was the last step in moving to the new room, the boy had used his powers to sneak into her room while she was at lunch, and had placed a small explosive charge in her suitcase. When she had opened it, the charge had ignited and Revan's clothes were incinerated. Well, at least the damage was only to my clothes, and not to the rest of the room, or to me, for that matter, she thought as she wandered through the racks. And most of my fall and winter wear was packed away, so he didn't get to that.
"Okay, guess I'll start with shirts," Revan mumbled to herself as she reached the women's section. Shirts of all sorts hung on racks and were folded on shelves. Revan's head tilted to one side and her emerald slit-pupil eyes narrowed slightly as she pondered where to begin. She didn't have to worry about money, after all, her parents were quite well-off, and the generous weekly allowance they sent her rarely got spent, and so had built up to quite a nice sum. "This is going to take a while...."

The sound of Alex's favorite pair of slingback wedges clacked agaisnt the floor as the girl strolled through Willowbrook Mall. The healer didn't have to stop in every store to look around, she already knew what she wanted before she left campus for the mall. A smile formed on her face and excitement grew within her as she thought about the strapless, dusty rose colored dress she saw online while taking a study break earlier that day. Summer time was Alex's favorite time of the year, just because of the thrill she got from shopping for dresses.
The familiar red sign of one of Alex's favorite stores, H&M, greeted her as she approached her destination. Alright, just find the dress, pay for it, and leave. Just get in and get out, no distractions. Just the dress, just the dress, just the dress. Everytime Alex went to the mall in search of a single item, she always ended up coming back with more bags than she could carry. But as she walked in through the doors, her eyes were already glued to a pair of heels that were on display and the girl had already thrown out her plan of just buying the one dress.
Seconds later, Alex found a pair of the shoes in her hands as she examined it. They were black heels with long straps that were meant to wrap around the ankle and tie into a bow. I must have these. Placing the size seven heels back on the display table, she rummaged through other pairs to find her shoe size, seven and half, eight… NINE! Score! With a smile, Alex grabbed the shoes and went on to search for her dress.
As she headed towards the dresses, Alex saw a familiar face amongst the many racks of shirts the store had to offer. Oh! That’s Revan, from my martial arts class. Alex casually walked over to where the empath was and greeted her with her soft voice, “Hi, Revan, right? We have martial arts together. I didn’t know that you liked H&M! This is probably one of my favorite places to shop at in Willowbrook Mall. Oh! You have to see these shoes I found,” Alex showed the girl the black heels she found with a look of satisfaction on her face. “They’re actually over there on that table if you want a pair for yourself,” Alex added with a smile. Who wouldn’t want such a gorgeous pair of shoes?

Revan looked around at the familiar voice. She half-smiled at the healer, and brushed her soot dusted bangs behind her ears. "Yeah, I'm Revan. And you're Alex, right?" She looked at the shoes that the older teen was holding out and shook her head. "They're very nice, but if I tried to wear them, I'd sprain an ankle within five steps. High heels are not my friends. And shoes are the last thing on my list, anyway." The empath held up a folded piece of paper. "Dominic managed to get into my room and plant an explosive charge in my clothing suitcase," she explained, in response to Alex's curious glance at her somewhat burnt appearance. "So now I have to replace most of my wardrobe. Including, well..." she gestured to her chest somewhat uncomfortably.
Revan turned back to the shirt rack she had been browsing through, trying to find something that was within her limits. Not price-wise, she wasn't worried about money, it was more a question of comfort, then color, then style. Revan wasn't all that interested in the current fashion, whatever that might be, she was for more focused on finding something that fit her body style. Not a very easy task, as she had discovered soon after hitting puberty. Most clothing just wasn't cut for her, which was why she didn't care too much for clothes shopping in the first place.

“Yep!” The healer replied cheerfully as the girl asked if she was Alex. When the girl explained that heel’s weren’t quite the best choice for her, Alex nodded in understanding. She looked at the piece of paper with interest as the empath explained that she was at the mall to replace her wardrobe that was destroyed by a nasty prank played on her. Her jaw dropped in awe, “Whoa whoa, please tell me that the Headmistresses got wind of this? That’s going much too far, endangering you like that.” Alex didn’t know the boy too well, but she’s heard of him and his games before and has even fallen prey to them once. I’m having a word with that boy.
As the empath rifled through the racks of t-shirts, an idea struck Alex. With an excited smile on her face, Alex followed Revan to the clothing rack she was looking through before asking, “You knooow, shopping is much more fun when you have someone else to enjoy it with. I actually only came to Willowbrook to find this one dress, but I always get sidetracked and end up splurging and buying even more than I intended. My wardrobe is already so full, my clothes will start spilling over onto my bed and desk before I know it. If you’d like, I can instead help you pick out new clothes, especially since you need to replace all of your clothes. It’ll be a lot of fun!” As she awaited the girl’s response, Alex quickly flipped through a nearby rack of shirts with the skill of one who is practiced in the art of picking out things that were always just right for someone.

Revan nodded absently to Alex's query about whether or not Revan had informed the Headmistress of the prank. She wasn't really angry at Dominic, more annoyed at the inconvenience he had caused. Now, if the explosive had been planted among her books, she would have been very angry. "Yes, I told the Headmistress." She didn't elaborate further, and at Alex's next words, paused in her search and looked over at the healer. She was a little puzzled at the offer to help, but shrugged after a moment's thought. Why not? she asked herself. Unable to come up with a satisfactory answer, Revan in the healer's direction. "Yeah, okay," she said. "I could use the help. I'm not much of a shopper," she admitted.
At Alex's wordless gesture, Revan handed her the list that she'd scribbled down. It wasn't much of a list, only a basic inventory of what had been in the suitcase.
Shirts Lightweight Pants and/or Shorts Undergarments Skirts Dresses Socks Shoes(if possible)
Revan watched curiously as Alex rifled through the shirt racks, wondering what the healer would find. Obviously, the older teen knew what she was looking for, as she was searching at a much faster pace than Revan had been. The young empath tilted her head to one side, noting that Alex was excited and enjoying the action of shopping. Revan didn't really understand that, but the healer's emotions were positive, and Revan couldn't help but smile in response.

Alex smiled excited when Revan agreed to let Alex help her pick out some new clothes. When the empathy handed her the list, Alex quickly scanned it before handing it back to the girl. “We definitely have our work cut out for us,” Alex added with a chuckle. She couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have to replace her entire wardrobe. If it had happened to her, she would have forced Dominic to find and replace every article of clothing that was destroyed.
As Alex flipped through the clothes on the rack, she’d occasionally stop and pull something out and hold it up to Revan, just to imagine what it would look like on her. The first shirt she pulled out was an emerald green v-neck shirt that matched perfectly with the empath’s eyes. She handed it to Revan for her to look and decide whether or not she liked it. “Alright try this one, but don’t go yet! I’ll pick out a few more before you head to the fitting room. Oh by the way, what’s your favorite color?” Alex turned moved on to another rack and found that she had more luck with this one than the last one. The next blouse she pulled out was a bit more stylish than the last. It was a dark blue one-shoulder top, not too dressy, but not too casual either. The healer also handed this to Revan, “This is really pretty too.
Alex wasn’t entirely what the girl’s tastes were when it came to clothing, but went on to pick out items that she would wear herself. Hmmm.. Pink… Would she wear pink? She doesn’t seem like the girliest of girls, but every wardrobe has to have at least a little pink! A few moments later Alex produced a cherry pink top from the rack she was currently searching through and held it up to Revan. Alex’s face scrunched up a bit as she decided whether or not she liked it. “Hmm.. This shade of pink doesn’t go too well with your skin tone.” After stuffing the blouse back into the rack, Alex searched some more and pulled out a pale pink top. “Ahh this is much better. What do you think?

Revan followed Alex through the racks of shirts, a slightly bemused look on her face. She shrugged as shirt after shirt was held up and compared with her skin tone, eyes, hair, and some other attributes that the healer seemed to be well-versed in, but were complete mysteries to Revan. "I like blues and greens mostly," she replied to the question on her favorite color. "Blacks and silvers are nice, but I prefer cool colors. Water and plant life."
Revan shrugged again when asked about the pink top. "I guess," she replied, shaking her head. "Honestly, I'm not very good at this, and I've never really had the occasion to shop on this scale before. Most of the shopping I did back home was under my mother's direction. Once I got here, I mostly picked clothing for comfort, as opposed to color or style." The empath shrugged again and smiled at Alex. "I will trust in your judgement, my friend. You obviously have far more experience in this matter than I do."
Revan thought back to shopping expeditions with her mother. She remembered standing, rather bored, as her mother looked through clothes racks. Most of her own time was either spent reading whatever book she had brought along, or in the dressing room as her mother helped check the sizes on articles of clothing. Even when she had gotten older, Revan much preferred spending time in a book store to a department store. But that was neither here nor there. Revan pulled her attention back to the present and looked up from the clothes in her arms.

Alex smiled as Revan described her colors of preference, “Blues and greens are my favorites as well!” As the minutes ticked on, Alex was discovering that she really liked Revan’s company. The empath was just really easy to be around and there was some calming aspect about her that put Alex at ease. It made Alex chuckle a little when Revan described her lack of experience with shopping. “Well then I will try to make this little excursion as painless as possible.” Once Revan gave Alex the “ok” that she could go ahead and pick out whatever she thought was best, the healer was suddenly all over the store, dragging Revan along with her.
She mostly checked out the racks that had the colors that Revan liked best and picked out things that were both suitable for comfort and style. Alex tried her best to stick to close that Revan would like, but would occasionally throw in things that were just too cute for Alex to pass up. Once her arms were full of various articles of clothing, she nodded to Revan, “Alrighty, ready to hit a fitting room? You have to come out and show me everything after you try them on though! I’m so excited to see how these all look on you!” Alex rambled on and on about the clothes as they headed to the fitting rooms.
“Oh, also, don’t feel at all like you have to get everything I picked out. What’s most important is that you like what you wear.” The healer was really excited to see what the clothes looked like on Revan. It was as if she had her own life-size doll to dress up. Once they reached the fitting rooms, a worker took the clothes and guided them back and opened a room for Revan, placing the clothes inside. “I’ll just sit right here, but don’t forgot you have to show me everything you try on! Oh wait, let me help you match the clothes into outfits real quick.” Alex stepped into the dressing room and began to organize the clothes, matching various tops with bottoms and placing them together on the hooks inside the dressing room. “It’s all yours!” She said as she walked out and plopped down on a plush bench next to Revan’s dressing room.

Revan shrugged again and walked into the fitting room, closing and locking the door behind her. She pulled off her own soot-streaked clothes and set them aside. She stared at the myriad of outfits for several moments before picking one at random and pulling it off its hangers. The loose deep blue shirt slid on easily, the sleeves falling in carefully orchestrated folds and the soft purple pants hugged her hips flatteringly, but hung loose around her lower legs and ankles. The black belt clipped on neatly. Revan stretched a little, making sure that she was able to move, then shrugged inwardly and opened the door. She pushed her bangs out of her eyes again and walked to where Alex was sitting. She stood a little stiffly in front of the older teen, wondering what was going through the healer's mind. Revan could pick up feelings of contemplation, but that was all. "Well?" she asked. "It's comfortable, but what do you think? Should I go up or down a size? Does the cut look okay?" Revan felt somewhat embarrassed, although she wasn't sure why. Maybe it was that she was so far out of her element here. In a bookstore, Revan was happy, but here, the empath might as well have been walking on sharp stones. Uncomfortable didn't even begin to cover it. {OOC: Some of Alex's suggestions: link}

Alex’s head snapped up when she heard the door open to Revan’s fitting room and the healer was immediately on her feet. As Revan asked of Alex’s opinion on the outfit, Alex stood back and scrutinized the outfit she picked out, circling around the empath to see the outfit from all aspects. She was wearing the rich blue oversized top along with a pair of purple pants. The colors went well together and played nicely with Revan’s skin tone and eye color. The outfit also seemed to fit her body just right. It was plenty loose for comfort, but not exceedingly so that it was distasteful. “This one is brilliant, I say yes!” When Revan mentioned the cut, Alex nodded, “Yea I think it’s great! It fits your body perfectly. You said it was comfortable, but do you like the way it looks? I have to say, these colors just work so well with you.”
As Alex waited for Revan to put on the next outfit, she remembered the dusty rose colored dress that she came to the mall in search for and decided to steal away from the fitting room for a moment to find it. The healer knocked softly on the door to Revan’s fitting room, “Hey I’m going to go look for something real quick, I’ll be right back.” With that Alex quickly strolled out of the fitting rooms and headed straight to the section where dresses were on display and hung on racks. It didn’t take very long for Alex to find it since she already knew what it looked like. But before heading back to the fitting rooms, Alex picked up a couple cardigans and sweaters, knowing that autumn was just around the quarter and it would soon be time for her to put away her dresses and skirts.
The healer was back in the fitting rooms before Revan was even out of hers and had the worker unlock the one that was next to Revan’s. “Hey I’m in the stall right next to yours! I’ll be right out!” Alex quickly and excitedly threw off her clothes and got into the little dress she was dying to have, smiling as she appreciated the way it fit her body. She let down her long brown locks to cover her bare shoulders before turning around in the soft pink strapless dress. “Alright Revan, give me your opinion!” She called out as she opened the door to her fitting stall and stepped out.

Revan, somewhat nervously, tracked Alex with her eyes as the healer circled her. She wasn't used to being 'on display' as it were, and she felt clearly out of place. She flushed a little at the complement, though, and nodded slightly. She felt a gentle push as Alex shooed her back into the fitting room to try the next outfit. She heard Alex's voice as she left for a moment to look for something and then at her return. "Hold on a moment," she called when Alex asked for her opinion. "Let me finish putting this on." 'This' consisted of soft black pants and a deep green halter-top shirt that had a high collar that snapped into place. Revan couldn't seem to get the snap working. It kept getting caught in her hair. "Scrap," she mumbled.
Sighing, Revan held the collar of the shirt up and opened the stall door. "Alex?" she called. "Can you help me with this? The snap keeps getting stuck in my hair." She shook her thick dark hair in slight annoyance. Maybe it's too small... she mused as she waited for the healer. Or perhaps it's not cut right....ugh, I wish I was better at picking my own clothes....

Alex peeled her gaze from the mirror that spanned an entire wall at the sound of Revan’s distress and couldn’t help but giggle softly. “I’m on it.” She quickly came walked behind the empath and lifted her dark hair out of the way, settling it over Revan’s shoulder. “These ones tend to be tricky,” she added as she clasped the collar in place. The healer then lead Revan towards the mirror before doing the same as she had before, circling Revan to carefully scrutinize the outfit. “I like it! Especially the top, I’ve always loved halter tops. Do you like it?” Alex could love the outfit all she wanted, but at the end of the day, it was Revan’s opinion that mattered most, since she would be the one wearing it.
As she let Revan ponder the outfit, Alex remembered a particular dress she had chosen for the empath and went to rummage through the large pile of clothes in her fitting room in search of it. Although she wasn’t sure if the empath would go for it, Alex threw in the form-fitting sea blue dress. The one-shouldered piece would flaunt Revan’s curves and would definitely turn some heads. Beaming as she strolled out of the fitting room with the bright blue dress hidden behind her, Alex approached Revan with a sly look. “Ooooohhhh Reeeevvaannnn. I have your next outfit,” she waited a few seconds, hoping that Revan wouldn’t immediately refuse to try on the dress.
When she pulled the dress around from behind her, Alex bit her lower lip as she let Revan feast her eyes. “Thought it might not be your taste, every girl has to have at least one sexy little dress in the wardrobe! Who knows you might actually like it! Now go, try it on!” Before Revan could refuse, Alex shoved the dress into her hands and herded the empath into the fitting room once more. As she closed the door behind Revan, Alex went back to the mirror, trying to imagine which heels she would match with the little pink dress she had chosen for herself. Maybe my strappy heels. Or perhaps one of my peep-toe heels? After deciding that she liked the way she looked in her dress, Alex skipped into her own fitting room to get back into her jeans and try on the sweater she had grabbed.

A rare full smile made it's way onto Revan's face. She did like the halter style. That type of halter, anyway. She didn't like the ones that showed off lots of cleavage. Not that she could find any of those that fit well. Perhaps if she found one that fit properly... she shrugged. Speculations such as that were neither here nor there. "Yeah, I like these type of halters. No sleeves that get caught during rough activities such as tree-climbing." She chuckled a little. Tree-climbing was one activity that Revan did regularly.
Revan turned away from the mirror at Alex's call. The empath's eyes went slightly wide at the form-fitting dress. "I-" Her half-formed protest was cut off before she could finish it as she was gently shoved into the fitting room. She looked down at the sky-blue dress in her hands and took a deep breath. "Okay," she mumbled to herself. She carefully stripped the emerald top and black pants off and set them in the 'yes' pile. It was larger than the discard pile, which held the few sets of pants and shirts that were too small or too big. Revan had been somewhat surprised at the ease which with Alex had found clothes that fit the empath. How does she do it? Revan wondered.
Revan took another deep breath and slid the dress over her head. The soft blue fabric clung to her body and made soft shhss-shhss sounds when she moved. She realized that she would be unable to fasten the shoulder tie on her own, so she held it in place and opened the door. "Alex, I need some help with the tie."

Alex carefully hung the little pink dress back on a hanger and set it aside before throwing on the sweater she picked out. The sound of Revan’s voice made Alex quicken her pace and she was out of the fitting room a few seconds later, adjusting the sleeves on the sweater as she walked over to where Revan was. When she looked up to see the girl, Alex stopped and her face lit up with excitement and she completely forgot that Revan needed help. “Oh my gosh! You look absolutely stunning that dress! Please tell me you like it too, I will NOT let you end the day without that dress!” Alex squealed in delight as she pulled Revan out towards the large mirror, “Look at yourself! Tell me you like what you see!”
Just then Alex noticed that Revan was still awkwardly clutching the two pieces of fabric that was meant to be tied at the shoulder. “Oops! I got it.” Like pro, Alex took the fabric and tied a little knot at the top before stepping back and letting the empath take in the sight. The color was stunning and really played well with the empath’s skin tone and eye color. Alex was set on convincing Revan to get the dress. “Now what would go real nice with that dress are a pair of strappy heels. We’ll definitely have to hit up a shoe store before we leave.” The healer was having too much fun with finding clothes for Revan. We’ll have to do this again! Though I’m not sure how much Revan would like the idea.

Revan stared at the image in the mirror with wide eyes. She had trouble recognizing the green-eyed beauty in the mirror as herself. The sky-blue dress clung to her like a second skin, unlike the loose shirts and pants she usually favored. She moved her hand up to brush a lock of hair behind her ear, and couldn't help but be slightly surprised when the reflection copied her motion. Wow, she thought, to shocked to be embarrassed. I never thought I could look like that.
"Wow," Revan murmured. She turned to look at Alex, a slight smile on her face. "I already told you that heels are not my friends, but I have little doubt that such a small restriction will stop you from finding shoes for me. Am I right?" The empath tilted her head slightly curious as to what the healer's response would be. While she was sure that she would never enjoy the experience of shopping for its own sake, she would no longer avoid it with such intensity. If she had someone like Alex to spend the day with, shopping would no longer be the unpleasant experience that it had been before.
