It was a breezy summer day that was hot with a cooling stream of wind every couple of minutes. The leaves moved lazily back and forth when tugged by the wind as if even they didn’t want to really move today. Their occasional green movements were just about the only interesting thing going on today, too. So, to just do something Blitz headed out into the sunshine. His choice for seating? A tree. His jean clad leg hung down from one of the many trees that provided Silas Academy with shade and beauty. The rest of his body was obscured by the shading foliage. With his back against the tree and his hands behind his head, Blitz casually observed the going ons around the school and the dorms through the branches. No much was happening. He sighed irritatedly and frowned. Weekends were freaking boring here. Or they were when you didn’t have anyone to hang with.
There was a ground shaking boom coming from one of the dorms that almost knocked Blitz out of his tree. Startled, he watched as the Academy’s main campus doors flung open with such force. The Headmistress and several of her lackeys raced toward the boy’s dorm with grim set faces. Blitz couldn’t help but laughed, “Someone’s gonna geeeeet it~!” he chimed with a smug face settling back into his former position. One of the teachers heading for the dorm stopped and turned to peer in Blitz’s direction. Instinctively he shrunk down so as not to be seen although he knew the teacher knew exactly where he was. He had exceptional hearing. It really sucked he was one of the main teachers. No one could talk in his class. He’d always hear.
Peering over to the dorm, Blitz watched as a billowing plume of black smoke issued out of dormitory. “Damn,” he muttered and cocked his head to the side wondering who had done it and what was done. More than likely it was two hot heads fighting again. Or someone lost control of their powers or… The list could go on. Speaking of powers, Blitz focused his eyes on his open hand resting against his leg. A spark of blue formed in the center of his palm then quickly disappeared. Positioning his thumb and middle finger closer toward each other, a blue stream of electricity formed between the two humming and dancing a lively jig. Blitz smiled fondly. Some kids who came here hated themselves or their powers. Not Blitz. It was a part of him. It always would be.

Danny loved the weekends. Weekends meant no classes. No classes meant freedom. And he loved freedom more than anything. Growing up, he'd spent too many days in closets and basements to let a good, sunny day go by unenjoyed.
Meaning the breeze that danced through the trees found him floating through the air over the trees that circled the academy, enjoying the feel of wind in his wings. There was nothing better feeling in the whole world, and he was willing to defend that thought to the death. (Though when someone handed him a plate of chocolate chip cookies, he always found it harder to argue.) It wasn't just the freedom thing, either, it was...something that thrummed through his whole body, right down to his toes. Something he'd never been able to describe adequately to anyone, even his mom. (Not that she hadn't made him try. And try. ...And try.)
Danny let his eyes slide open in time to hear the earth-shaking bang and see the pillar of smoke blossom into the air from the dorms. He couldn't help but snort with laughter - this was common enough that he wasn't too worried about injuries - as he banked to get a better look. The teachers began pouring from the main building almost immediately, apparently bent on slamming some heads. A voice came from the trees just below him, saying something that, though he couldn't understand it, made one of the teachers stop and frown at the trees. Danny waved, his eyes sharp enough to catch the teacher's returning wave, and then tightened his turn to land in the tree next to the voice.
It was a man around his own age, one of the other students that he had seen but not met before. He was watching something that he held between his fingers and didn't seem to have noticed the winged man yet. Danny frowned slightly, unsure about whether or not he should say something. Word around the school was a little contradicting: either the guy was a biker kind of tough, or was a complete clown. Danny figured it was worth a shot. Besides, worse case scenario, he could always fly off.
What do you want to bet someone blew up? He flashed a smile to show it was a joke, but decided to wait and see what kind of sense of humor the guy had.

"This would happen to me when I try to sleep in for once on a weekend," Alexandria muttered as she left the general area of the dormitories and class buildings. She was awakened by the startling and earth rattling explosion since her room was on the side facing the boys' dormitory and decided she would go out on a walk to get away from the noise and chaos next door. As she strolled along, she considered what she would do with the rest of her day and the weekend. I could practice my healing powers, surely someone was injured in that mess. This brought excitement to her eyes and for a moment she was tempted to head back and see if she could be of use.
Just as she was about to turn back, something from the corner of her eye caught her attention; a man soaring through the sky, then landing near a tree with another young man sitting in it. Alex had seen the one with the wings around a couple times before, but the one in the tree was an entirely new face. Not being the one to miss the opportunity to introduce herself to not one, but two of her peers, she headed towards them. She was always cautious when meeting new people, especially at the Academy since many of the students have not gained full control of their powers.
Once she was under the shade of the tree, Alex slowed her pace as she tried to start conversation with an attempt at a joke, "Great way to kick off the weekend with a 'bang' huh?" She chuckled awkwardly before realizing how lame her introduction was getting to be. "I'm Alexandria by the way, Alex for short. I've seen you around before," she said, addressing the winged man, then looked at the other, "but you're a new face." Alex hoped dearly that he was at least relatively new to the Academy. She'd feel like a neglectful jerk if he had been around for a while and she just assumed he was new because she'd never seen him before. "Pretty," she commented, eyeing the blue sparks of electricity the one in the tree was toying with, Alex lifted her right hand and willed her powers to appear, "Mine's blue too." A pale blue glow surrounded her right hand and as Alex concentrated more, it began to pulsate, glowing brighter with each beat. "Guess what it does?!" She asked both of the boys excitedly, "No one has gotten it right on their first guess."

The quiet chinking sound of something striking metal resonated with every step of a teenaged blond. Maddie was flipping a two-headed coin as she walked, an old habit that always flared up whenever she was proud of herself. Which, surprisingly, was a lot of the time. It was rare she wasn't flipping that damn coin.
The commotion that followed the sounds of an explosion was like music to her ears. She had told him things could go devastatingly wrong if he used his power with the flash powder, but did he listen? Nope. Which is actually why she'd given it to him. Maddie was always up for a good prank, and the boy had so desperately wanted to get his roommate back after a little shaving cream fiasco. Who was she to deny someone the sweet, sweet taste of revenge?
And just as she had predicted, it had gone horrible wrong. Really, giving flash powder to a pyro was not the smartest idea, but she wasn't the one getting in trouble. And she had no need to worry about getting found out, because her powers were handy for manipulation. There was nothing a little hypnosis couldn't make a person forget, especially when the trigger to break it wasn't even in English.
So Maddie continued her casual stroll away from the academy buildings, coin spinning rhythmically. The only indication that she was paying any sort of attention to her was the subtle smile on her face, the one that warned of mischief. And as her path brought her closer to a group of older kids gathered around a tree and gawking, she could help but raise her eyebrows just a little. Because she knew exactly what had happened and they didn't, and she reveled in being in on the secret.

Revan, or Spark as she was known by most, was yanked out of her meditations by a surge of emotion that was not her own. She flinched away from the intense negative feeling and opened her eyes, grabbing the branch below her to keep from falling out of the tree. She knew that many of the students liked to relax in the trees, but this particular tree, located at the very edge of the grounds, was hers. "Guess I'm done meditating for the day," she said with a sigh. Her eyes caught the large plume of smoke that hovered over one of the main dormitories. That would explain the noise, she thought.
Climbing down from her perch, Spark set off at an easy jog, heading in the direction of the dorms. I really hope that was the boys' dorm, the teen thought. I do not want to have to redo my room again. This would be the third time this year. Spark knew that many of the other students resented the fact that she didn't have to share a room, but there been several incidents - she had given her roommates horrible nightmares by accident, influencing their sleeping patterns in an instinctive defense - before the staff had decided to put her in a single room. A single room with the outer wall on one side, and a permanently vacant room on the other.
As she approached the school, another surge of emotion, this one positive, shot through her. An aura she didn't recognize seemed to be the source. She was drawn to the epicenter of the positive feelings, and followed them. They led her to another tree near the entrance to the courtyard. The winged boy, Danny, stood there, talking to several other students. Pulling her shields tight, Spark stepped into view. "Heya, Danny," she called.

The guy gave a sniff and looked down at the ground. Maybe he could sneak a bit of food from the kitchen. The drop was a good distanced from the branch, but he’d walk away from it no problem. Before Blitz could enact his will to jump, a figure suddenly appeared in the tree on a different branch. Two white wings folded into the other’s back with skilled practice. Blitz jumped at the sight having not expected anyone else to make an appearance in the tree this morning. It’s not often people just dropped out of the sky. The spark of electricity in Blitz’s hand disappeared with a crackle. Cocking his head to the side, the guy listened to the other’s words and then laughed. “It wouldn’t surprise me if someone did. Seems like someone always does.” Extending a hand up toward the guy, Blitz waited for a quick, polite handshake. “Blitz Weilder. Welcome to the tree,” he said with a smirk.
Another voice drew his attention away from the winged kid and onto a woman who stood near the trunk of the tree. Blitz still wore his smirk before responding to her hint at a need for an introduction. “Blitz. Weilder,” he replied with a polite nod in her, Alex’s, direction. He didn’t take it personally that she didn’t know him. Truth be told, Blitz hardly even knew anyone here himself. Transferring in only a couple of months ago in a last ditched effort to get his powers under control, Blitz was just another fresh face guy hanging around. Out of excitement to talk to others, the guard keeping his powers from slipping through lowered. The spark reappeared in his palm zapping and humming with enthusiasm.
Blitz stifled a yelp and bit his lip pushing his powers back. The more emotional he got, the worse they were to handle. It took a great deal of concentration to make sure nothing was accidently zapped by a stray bolt. Several seconds later the electricity was under control and disappeared once more. I hope they don’t think I was showing off… Brown eyes slipped to peer at both the young woman and the winged guy to check their expressions. Neither seemed to think any different of him. In fact, Alex excitedly went about showing them all what she could do. Her right hand began to grow blue and then pulsated with concentration. Blitz tilted his head to the side thinking. Some powers were easy to guess. Others, not so much. “Uuuugh… Energy orbs?” he asked uncertainly.
“Hm, I wonder if she knows what happened.” A blonde haired chick was strolling over the campus’ grass. It appeared that she had come from somewhere near the building that had blown up. Even from this distance Blitz could see that odd expression she wore as if she knew something the rest of the world didn’t. Curious, Blitz couldn’t help but shouting out to her, “Hey miss, do you know which dorm blew up or what happened?! Maaan, I hope it wasn’t the boy’s dorm again.” His face was shadowed by a sudden disappointed look. This would be the second time that the dorm had blown up since his coming here if it had been.
Yet another voice rippled through the air. It was another girl. “Dude, are we like outnumbered at this school or something?!” he shot up to Danny with another smirk. Blitz realized that this girl had called out to the only other guy present. “Is she your girlfriend?” he asked casually with a playful tone. The two guys didn’t know each other, but that didn’t stop Blitz from messing around with him. Danny was really one of the only people to come talk to him of their own free will, most of the time he had to go up to someone and start the conversation himself. It was something he wasn’t always comfortable with.
In the distance, the black smoke began to dissipate to a light grey before vanishing altogether. The professors must have subdued the situation. The academy doors burst open again. This time only a single woman hurried out of them. It was the school’s nurse, or so Blitz guessed by the uniform she wore. “Wow, I hope someone wasn’t seriously injured.” The nurse carried only a first aid kit in her hand and nothing more. If it had been a more serious situation, surely the kid would have been brought to the Infirmary rather than having the nurse come to him. News of the event would circulate during lunch. Everyone would know what happened by dinner.

Danny accepted the offered handshake with a laugh, relieved to find that the guy actually had a sense of humor. This would seem to lend credence to the rumor that the guy was more of the clown sort. He hoped so, Danny'd been having trouble finding people who could stand his own...unfailing good mood. "Thanks. Danny Larkin. A couple of the kids call me Angel, but I don't usually go by it."
He turned with Blitz to watch the new girl join the party. When she said she made that joke that was - he couldn't deny it - very lame, he still chuckled slightly. It was followed almost immediately by an introduction and a comment that she had seen him around. He offered his name, but wasn't sure if she caught it before her attention went to Blitz. The spark that this shift of attention caused in Blitz's palm would have made Danny smile under other circumstances - it opened up such a wealth of potential teasing - but he let it slide this time, still not sure how the other man would take it.
"Does it blow things up?" He glanced at Blitz, intentionally putting on an air of too-defensive, "I'm not obsessed."
There was little doubt that the blonde girl sauntering toward them knew what had happened. Danny's sharp eyes caught the knowing smile and bent eyebrow that she was directing at them. He glanced over at Blitz's question and snorted, "Do you see that look? She knows. She was probably a part of it." He knew the last part was a stretch, but...whatever... And even given his words, he was just as curious to find out the answer to the question Blitz called. Blitz's last words made Danny groan, his head dropping back. "I'd bet you money it is the boys'. It's always the boys' dorm."
"It's a conspiracy!" Danny returned Blitz's smirk with one of his own, and turned to survey yet another girl. This new arrival Danny knew he could pick out in a crowd with no trouble - even if he hadn't known her pretty well - she had slit-pupils, green eyes, and markings on either side of her face. And judging from her call, only recognized him in the crowd. He waved a hand in return, though he turned the motion into a mocking fist-shake at Blitz's words. "Are you trying to steal her? 'Cause I'll fight you to the death." His words were followed by a laugh, and a shrug. "She's a buddy of mine from my mythology class."
Danny glanced up at the school as he spoke and saw the smoke fade away. He also the nurse as she rushed out, a first aid kit in hand. Blitz's comment elicited only a short nod from Danny. Somehow, he doubted the injury was too terrible, because the nurse's reaction would have been...more. Or they would have been carting the body up to the infirmary. Like the last time...
The nurse disappeared and Danny craned forward to try to catch a glimpse of whatever was happening. For the most part, there appeared to be nothing...he didn't see any more teachers rushing that way, anyway.

When the young man called Blitz guessed at the purpose of the light blue aura that surrounded her hands, Alex couldn’t help but chuckle at the simplicity of his guess. But he wasn’t too far off. “I guess you could call it that. But the energy heals, not only my injuries but other people’s as well. I’ve been working on trying to project the aura beyond my hands,” she explained as she lifted a glowing hand closer to her face, focusing as she tried to extend the boundaries of the light. I need practice though, she thought to herself as she contemplated going to the site of the blast to see if she could be of use.
As she looked towards the school, she noticed another figure heading towards the small group. Alex watched as a blonde girl walked up towards the group, wearing the look of mischief on her face. Realization immediately set in and she couldn’t help to giggle quietly at the thought of the girl pulling yet another one of her infamous pranks. The healer had seen the blonde around campus a lot and may even have a class or two with her, but she knew the girl for her mischievous schemes. As the boys surmised that she was the cause of the commotion, Alex nodded in confirmation, “I’d bet my powers that not only does she know what happened, but she’s also behind it.” Smiling, Alex waved the girl over, excited to finally meet the notorious trickster.
Another female student arrived, and she was apparently already acquainted with Danny. Alex smiled as the guys joked with each other over Danny’s friend, the two obviously got along together well. She noticed the interesting markings that adorned the girl’s face, I’ve never seen anything like that before. Quit staring! She thought to herself before smiling at the girl and introducing herself, “I’m Alex” she said, waving casually.
When Blitz commented that he hoped no one was seriously injured, Alex followed his gaze towards the school and watched as the nurse hurried off with a first aid kit. “That’s no fun, I was hoping for fractures or partial thickness burns at least,” she muttered to herself, before realizing how morbid that sounded to people who weren’t in the field of healing. “I mean, I’ll probably see if I can hurry along their healing process and make sure there’s no scarring,” she said with a meek smile, hoping that she didn’t ruin her first impression on these people.

Her joy had faded as quickly as it came. The one problem with being privy to secrets was that everyone else wanted to know. And because she was never coy when it came to keeping secrets, everyone always wanted to know what she knew. Her smile faltered when one of the tree boys called out to her, asking what she knew. He wasn't familiar. None of them were, really, aside from the girl with the blue hands and possibly the one with the weird eyes. The two guys were both a couple years older, ones she'd seen around and heard rumors about but had never actually met. The girls, on the other hand, were close enough to her age. She actually had a class with glowing hands, and wasn't surprised when the girl waved her over.
Great, a question and a summons. Maddie rolled her eyes, flipping her coin again. She wasn't about to be uncivil; her father had taught her better than that. Besides, maybe these people could be of some use to her. Always out for personal gain, she altered her course and made her way towards the tree. It didn't matter (nor did she really care) that she had missed all the introductions. As far as she was concerned she was the center of attention now, and she did enjoy being the center of attention. It came with years of performing on stage with her father.
"Mad Maddie, at your service," she almost seemed to chirp, giving a rather flamboyant bow. As she stood back to her height of five foot five inches, she flipped her coin again, catching it and rolling it over in her fingers. It really was a bad habit of hers. Her devious smile was back in place as she looked over each student with unsettling eyes. "Though if I tell you what happened, what's in it for me? I mean," and here she dramatically glanced to both sides, as if checking for any eavesdroppers. "It's going to be the highlight of the week. Nothing this interesting's happened since Kerri accidentally soaked Professor Leibert. Needless to say, the good professor won't be wearing white again any time soon."
Ah gossip. It was always a hot commodity at this school.

Mason Wilde It was a scene fresh out of Jack the Ripper. The streets of Escavas were deathly still and quiet. The lamp-posts were the only light source, splashing an eerie, sickly yellow pallor on the cobblestone walkways. The houses of an obvious Victorian flare were shuttered down to the last nook and cranny, as if the dwellers were afraid of something sinister leaking into their peaceful household. And they were right to execute their feelings in such a fashion.
It was no secret that a demon lurked the streets at night, a creature shrouded in darkness. It sounded like a cliche monster straight out of some bedtime story, but this was no laughing matter. The citizens were scared out of their minds, for the elusive, dark creature had started to kill on a regular basis for many a year now... even the law was afraid to intervene, for some of their own started to dwindle in their numbers... The people started to leave Escavas, and those that didn't want to lose their homes stayed where they were--they were the dumb ones...
A dull humming echoed along the stone hallway, a rather bedraggled man making his way down it, eye's plastered onto the book that one rough hand clutched too. He was dressed rather lazily today, much different from the formal attire he would grace in school hours. Daggy trackies danced around his firm legs, whilst a blue singlet clung tightly to his almost chiseled chest. His dark hair was messy and unkempt, and fine regrowth of his beard was starting to show. Only momentarily did his green eyes shift upwards to check if he was going the right way, and to not run into someone else.
The halls of the Academy were quiet this afternoon, the Geology professor only spying a few students here and there. Ah, he loved the weekends as much as they, and it clearly showed only with the way he looked. Usually clean and tidy, he walked almost lazily, everything about him dwelling into this book, and not the students in which he taught. In fact, he was on his way outside to finish off his reading. It was a lovely summers day, and he had a feeling that the students would be too involved with their studies to take on the opportunity.
And so he continued down one of the many lightly pebbled walkways, the fauna distracting him from the book a little more than he had hoped. Checking over some of the vegetation, he inspected them for any illnesses or nasty bugs that threatened their growth. Satisfied, the Professor continued, to only be distracted by a group of students huddled around a tree. He lifted a brow in curiosity, to his knowledge, there was nothing peculiar about the said tree.
Closing the book gently, Mason let out a sharp whistle to get the students attention, but offered a cheeky smile. Perhaps they were up to something a little more sinister. Kids these days. Not that Mason could talk, he was a downright menace at their age. It bought his thoughts back to the most recent event, one that caused a dorm to explode in a glorious cloud of black smoke. He had gone to inspect, but was assured everything was fine. Just two students wondering what would happen should they pit their powers against each other. Supposedly. Both came out looking quite pleased, despite the small cuts and bruises the fiasco so kindly inflicted upon them. [/blockquote]

Spark smiled at the other girl, not minding her staring. After all, there was only curiosity behind it, and that was okay. It was the malicious stares that she hated. The 'what is that creature?' stares. She never got those here, and for that she was very grateful. "Hi Alex," she said, shaking the girl's hand, relieved that she didn't get anything more than the usual surface emotions through the touch. Positive surface emotions, at that. "I'm Revan Ashkevron. Call me Spark. I think we have a Geology class together."
Giving the other students a rare smile, Spark leaped to catch one of the lower branches and pulled herself easily into the tree. She climbed to a branch near Danny and the other boy and sat down. She had heard the other boy's comment on her relationship to Danny, and her winged friend's response had made her almost laugh. She had never thought of Danny as anything more than a friend, and probably never would, but the idea was there now. The aura of positive emotion around made her start to relax just a bit. Maybe hanging out with some of the other students won't be so bad, she thought. Then she sighed inwardly when Maddie joined the group. She wasn't sure if Maddie remembered her, but Spark could sense she blond teen's aura from halfway across the school campus. The emotions that Maddie gave off were like a tornado sometimes, and Spark had to tighten her shields any time the hypnotist came near, or be risk getting caught up in them. "Hello Maddie," she called down.
