Bark. Bark. Bark. The sound of a dog shouting its head off had awakened Jaylen from his slumber. A little late in the night, but Dobie didn't care all he wanted to do was go outside. And he couldn't blame him, just today he moved into Silas Academy and Jay hadn't even taken a look at the surrounding. Wearing only boxers, he leaped out of bed, put on a black leather jacket, long blue pajamas, and slippers and headed downstairs. His eye caught sight of the doberman barking at the door, guessed the dog wanted to go and take a leak. “Alright boy, but make it fast ok.” he explained to Dobie, while putting on his diamond collar he received from his parents fortune.
Walking out of his house, Jaylen and Dobie cruised around the neighborhood. With the doberman sniffing almost every tree in sight. Boring as it was, he enjoyed spending time with his dog, and the campus surroundings were quite beautiful. Looking at the other houses near by his, he could tell that they were some of the other professors. Suddenly Dobie took a long whiff at the air and could smell something different. He tried to run towards it but Jaylen stopped him in his tracks. “What is it boy, you think ya saw something.” Jay was confused at what the doberman was trying to tell him but he glanced at the direction the dog's nose was pointing towards. The woods.
Out of the blue, Dobie ran off into the woods leaving Jaylen behind. It all happened so fast that he had to make sure that it was true. He stared at the woods, it appeared dark and gloomy but he has seen worse. Jay heard Dobie barking and decided to see what was happening. Traveling through the woods turned out to be fascinating, with all the herbs around him and the trees glistening in the night. But the time to fantasize was not now. Finally he wandered into a clearing and saw the dog stop in his tracks, continuing his barking nonsense. Calling the doberman over, he noticed a woman in the middle of the clearing. Having no idea whether or not she saw him, Jaylen wanted to know why she was in a forest this late of the hour. Maybe something had happened but whatever the case it was better than nothing. “Hey are you ok, hope my dog didn't startle you. He's really a good boy.”

Apologetic, might have been the best word to describe how Jaylen felt at the moment. He knew that a doberman might not be the best dog to have running at you full speed but, Dobie was a kind-good hearted dog. Yet at times his instincts did get the better of him and Jay was trying constantly to teach him to control them. After shutting down the doberman, he winked at the blonde haired girl. It was a tactic he used many time on women to show them that he means no harm and only wants to be friends. Hopefully it worked on this girl, although he could sense that she was different but he couldn't put his finger on it.
It was funny how the girl was apologizing back even though she had done nothing wrong. Seemed like she was just as polite as Jaylen. She even introduced herself to him. He couldn't resist but to chuckle at the kindness he was being shown. "Madam Cooper, glad to have your companionship. May I ask if you are a student at Silas Academy." Jay wanted to try and calm the lady, show her that we are all friends here. She did look young enough to be a student at the academy but wanted to take some precautionary measures. You never know when someone can just stab you in the back.
Dobie finally calmed down a bit, and even started to taking a liking to Miss Cooper. He walked over to the lady and sat down at her side, as if he'd known her his whole life. Jaylen just sat there and smiled and did the exact same as his dog. "Looks like Dobie here wants to apologize as well." said Jay releasing a small giggle. If the doberman could trust her then why not him.

Thinking back to this morning when he first arrived at the academy, and the headmistress was explaining the rules. Jaylen was able memorize each and every one of them. One stating that students who are under the age of seventeen are not permitted to the woods without an adult supervisor. Judging by the way Josie looked, she might be around that age but you never know. Jay was relieved to find out the girl was getting a degree at the school. That way he wouldn't have to punish her with detention, and he didn't want to do that. Her laugh was gentle and soft, but cute at the same time. The professor could sense she was a pure soul.
Dobie enjoyed her company as well, especially when she liked his name. The doberman barked out loud in agreement and slowly panted for some air. All that running can tire a poor dog out. "Yeah I named him after some animal I saw in a movie, can't remember the name of the movie though." Jay usually had trouble with his memories from time to time but he didn't worry about it too much. "Oh I forgot, the name is Jaylen Masterson. I teach at Silas Academy, my first term is tomorrow." The thought of teaching a bunch of students how to use their power in a dangerous situation was fascinating.
"Well Madam, since you attend this school that means you have a gift. Am I right?"
